Yeah, that's in real life. In the game, it's different. Because games have tried similar systems before, and it also makes the melee completely useless, and not fun in any way.

Agreed completely on all everything you listed. Seriously, when your making a game full of guns and the best weapon is the damn knife, you've made a mistake.

the dolphin dive is supposed to have a cool down or a delay before firing, i can't remember the source but they said they were balancing it.

it seems like it will be fairly balanced and hopefully it is, my personal wishlish is however.

- no commando, even better no instant kill melee, simply because i get pissed off with all the panic knifing, however i would consider it balanced without commando.

- non replenishable tubes, they'll always be there but if your limited to the 2 you start with its alittle more controlable.

- Ghillie suits, i loved being a bush wookie on every map, i also liked my sleight of hand pro, as long as they have balanced hitmarkers (ie mw2 had balanced mutlipliers)

Killzone 2 pulled it off, 2 hit melee kills with a slight delay in between every hit, no commando teleport and no lock on.

I think Bad Company 2 got the knifing right, since you only hit if you are in a certain range and you are aiming at the player. And still, it takes 1 second to take up the gun again so you have somekind of a cooldown.

But it felt stiff an awkward. That said, I've only played the game a few times...

And look at Uncharted 2's multiplayer melee. A complete mess of random luck, and if you do win, you have barely any health left, perfect for some enemy to finish off.

Although the melee in single player was amazing.

Why in the world is there no regular AK-74? Considering this covers the Cold War period, I would have thought those would be included. I was disappointed by it's absence in Modern Warfare, since it is the mainstay of the Russian army. To be fair, though, if the campaign takes place in the 60's/early 70's, that would be before it's introduction.

Also disappointed that both the FN FAL and the SKS are missing from that list (although as far as I know, FAL was in MW2). Oh well, at least the FAMAS isn't being excluded.

Really that should be with everything. How about: Only shooting the chest and head will kill the person. But you can cripple/take off people's limbs if you shoot them enough. That way shooting someone does something but it doesn't make leg knifing possible. That and make the knife a bit longer to pull out. Or just make the knife animation automatically go for the head and neck that way a one hit kill makes sense.
My problem is not with realism, but with balance. I feel the one hit kill knife is too powerful in COD.

Not on my internet connection you can't :D

When I use the FAMAS it's only a one burst kill 30-40% of the time unless I'm lucky enough to get near the host

Melee should be worthless against guns.

The one hit knife kill is retarded, that should only apply if it is aimed at the face or chest.
Meh, (not trying to flame you), I think the knife in Cod games is actually for the best. The one thing that Treyarch got right in CoDWaW was the almost impossible knifing. It really was one of the things that made CoD what it is today. It was a really smart move on there part, and knifing was never really a problem in 4 and 5, unless you had a bad host.

OT: I honestly am just hoping for the bling perk back. I didnt use it to often, but it still was my favorite perk. And I hope they take the same root with Mw2 and make sleight of hand a first perk, so I can have stopping power on it.

Melee =! Commando. And even then it isn't the range, that's a problem. Or are you telling me, that's the range you usually use guns at?

I'm not quite sure what that all means, but anyway...

The problem is when you encounter someone at close quarters. COD has a lot of tight corners and small rooms and they have a huge advantage in that situation due to not needing to aim.

What I thought it might be was that for the demo they had the player against a bunch of bots with the same AI as in the campaign.

Apparently the new AI dives behind cover and away form explosions.
