I hope Noel and Kanji are confirmed for playable (since, considering 3/4th of the roster is mostly done, may be possible). If both my Blazblue and P4A mains are playable, that'll definitely be my team of choice (even if their team synergy ends up crap).

By the way, gonna add the Trunks trailer to your Dragon Ball FighterZ thread?

What the fuck are the other two series?

UNIEL is Under Night In Birth, a fighting game series by french bread (melty blood devs) which has been out for a few years now. RWBY is an anime made by westerners, I dunno much about it but it's popular enough to make it in Japan even.

ArcSys killing how to pull off an EVO showcase with the Jubei annoucement (CF:EX announcement?) straight into the strangest yet super hype crossover game trailer. If I can make a Terumi/Shadow Labrys team I will be incredibly happy. I'm relatively confident that the two will be on the roster but since this is a four way crossover you never know. I wonder what mechanics they'll pull most from since Under Night, BB and P4A have quite different base mechanics even if they all fit under the fast paced anime air dash fighter umbrella.

Also, for as lukewarm as I am about RWBY as a series (it's alright I guess) the fact that Ruby Rose is playable is great for two reasons. As a stylish girl with a scythe that turns into a gun, she's a good fit for a fighting game no matter what and more importantly, I see RWBY fans who have no interest in fighting games now all over Cross Tag just because some RWBY characters are in it. This is exactly the same way I got into UMVC3, my first real fighting game and eventually onto other games in the genre. For a genre as niche as a fighting game, this is a great way to get people interested in the genre without dumbing down games for the sake of ease of access. They'll fight through learning the mechanics for the sake of getting good with their mascot character of choice.

Meanwhile Capcom has some guy playing a few new characters in Marvel Infinite saying how it's totally cool guys I promise! My god, how does a Marvel game generate so little hype when the previous Marvel game was objectively the most hype videogame to ever exist. Capcom get your shit together...

Amen to that! Dragon Ball FighterZ and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle are better Mvs.C games, than Infinite. Infinite has been nothing but disappointing to me so far, and for some reason I just don't feel interested.

Yeah it's super disheartening that Infinite looks like a massive dud right now. UMVC3 is very close to my heart and it sucks to see the followup game, a game that by all rights shouldn't even exist considering how Marvel decided to cut ties with the MvC franchise a few years ago because Disney Money(TM), looks pretty damn bad. Hell, UMVC3 fucking characterised the recent fighting game landscape ever since it's release!

Almost every fighting game released post UMVC3 was released with some kind of comeback mechanic/universal powerup mode whether passive (Persona 4 Awakening) or active (BlazBlue Overdrive.) People look at how hype X-Factor was and they want some of that hype in their game, sometimes even if it doesn't fit the game. When I played the For Honour beta and had to witness the shitshow that is Revenge is the worst offender. I can only guess that Ubisoft took one look at the FG landscape, saw that comeback mechanics were in style and just went "well, guess we need one too!"

If Infinite sucks at least UMVC3 got ported to another two systems I suppose.

The comeback mechanics are just a capcom thing really. SF4 had those supers that charged as you got hit. BB has been kinda going its own way, since it had bursts before marvel and OD is an evolution of that burst system.

Btw, if anyone here's interested, we have made a discord for this game, so feel free to join!

I mean maybe it's just the fact that I play Terumi whose OD combos are arguably the best in the game but the fact that I can use a raw OD to I-frame something and do between 5000 to 8000 damage with basically nothing that they can do to stop me if I picked the right move to OD through sounds just like an X-Factor style comeback to me. God bless the new 4D > j2D loops. The fact that it's tied to Burst is just good from a balancing perspective since most of the universal mechanics are tied to meter use and dropping OD onto that would have been awful.

I think it is worth noting that UMVC3 has been a popular staple in any competitive fighting game event and continues to be so even in EVO 2017, almost a decade after UMVC3's first release. Now I can't speak for the popularity of past MVC games but I don't think the overall community respect for UMVC3 hasn't influenced the industry at all.

I am biased as hell though, UMVC3 was my life for a year and a half at least. Anything that feels like UMVC3 gets some praise from me.

Oh and there was an actual balance patch in the BB CF arcades the other day too. I look at the section on Nine and it's just "increased startup frames and/or recovery times for *insert almost all of her normals*" It's like ArcSys just glossed over her frame data on the first release.

That requires a lot of "if" situations so if we look at it a different way, other chars can do just as much if not more if all the planets align. Hakumen or Kagura for example easily bust out 8k stuff with a max resource OD combo.

BB is more about using OD early to make the other guy respect your wakeup and avoid pressure. If you watched evo, you'd notice that most combos didn't break 5k, usually between 2-3k. BB doesn't really work like marvel at all in that regard, it just "can" work that way too because it's such a varied game that you will get a couple chars work out that way. That, however, is not enough to say that "overdrive is xfactor" or anything even close to that. It's easier to say stuff like "this char is a marvel char" since with such varied chars you can get a couple who feel similar to chars of other games. Naoto being a KoF char also comes to mind in this regard.

More than Solid Snake, Mario, Pikachu and R.O.B. beating the crap out of each other?

I'd hate to say this but... I consider this karma against Capcom. For years they were treating fans of any franchise outside of Street Fighter and Resident Evil like crap.

As far as the communities go, the capcom and arcsys fans have mostly been separate sub-groups, so while I always kinda was amazed by the popularity of the inferior games they put out, I never really know how bad they were for their fans until relatively recently.

In my eyes, I just see this as people waking up and accepting the reality of which games are better and putting aside their emotional attachment to a series just because of the title it has lol.

I'm not sure if that's actually the case or not, we will have to see when Infinite cmomes out what player numbers are like

OT: I was hyped when this was shown. Seeing Hyde and Ragna fight each other was intersting and i can imagine some character synergies. My main complaint, very minor, is RWBY's inclusion; power level wise, RWBY deals with less powerful enemies and abilities compared to Blazblue's time warping, world ending powers so RWBY seems a bit odd in comparison

Same goes for Persona and Uniel though, power levels are all across the board so don't worry too much about it.
