I don't like bleeding, because it's generally involves pain and tends to be more than a little inconvenient... but I have had two incidents where it was quite a bit moreso.
1) Knife I was cleaning (I hated cleaning tape residue after Christmas... and I was in my early teens.) sliced a small bit of my thumb pad. Knowing my mom would freak from the copious bleeding, I went to the bathroom to clean the would and bandage it up. Turn on the faucet, stick my thumb under the flow, and choke down a scream as the skin gets folded back by the water. I immediately shake my hand off and clamp down on the throbbing thumb... and wilt a little when I notice the perfect circle of blood droplets from the spray; counter, walls and ceiling.
And, yes, I cleaned it all up, and bandaged my own hand, before my mom knew ANYTHING about the cut.
2) (Not very long ago, actually...) Rode to my daughter's school to pick her up from Pre-K... and got bit on the leg by my bike as I "dismounted".
Now, this isn't your run-of-the-mill diamond frame. My wife and I ride on a pair of Catrike Road recumbent trikes (His & Hers; Blue & Red). You ride in a laid-back position with the crank and main chainring out in front of you. To "dismount" youhave to stand up, and then extricate yourself from between the front tires, and around/over the boom with said cranks and chainring.
Somehow, I got my left foot caught on my pedal while swinging over the boom, got torqued around to have my caught leg's shin and calf get dragged over the teeth of the chainring. So, I got to walk into my daughter's classroom with a spiral of perforations lazily coiling up my lower leg and several red zebra stripes of blood flowing down into my sock. I was able to use the classroom's first aid kit and get myself cleaned up for the ride home.
And now I have a better reason why I live in S.FL and hate the beach: shark bite; nasty little bugger. Want to see the scars? (Still need to see about installing a front chainguard, if they make them for the 2004 model.)
