Blizzard Announces Diablo III Release Date

Awesome news. I've been playing the Beta for some time now and, while I feel the skill UI still needs a tad bit of polishing, the game as a whole is in excellent shape to ship. The game is very fun and a big improvement in pretty much all areas compared to D2.

I'll be playing co-op campaign with my brother using a Monk-Wizard duo. Our strategy is to kill everything before it kills us

Eve let's players sell time cards and other real money items for in game currency. Hailed as innovations to a genre.

Diablo 3 let's players have the option to buy items from other players(WHICH THOSE PLAYERS DO GET TO KEEP) using in game currency or real cash and it's a complete evil scam to make blizzard rich.

Meanwhile in diablo 2, duping, item shops all over the net that ruins the game for all who play it.

At least complain about real problems like a lack of LAN or no offline mode(I've a feeling an offline mode does in fact exist in some fashion)


Ugh what's worse is all the hipster's who are all up on the "OH TOO LATE LOL D3 ISNT WORTH BUYING bwhoho it's not nearly good enough for my standards!" Yeah you keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile the rest of the world is going to play the ever living frell out of this game.

I don't really give a shit. Always on DRM is what killed all the hype for me. I never liked playing Diablo multiplayer. I just want to relax and loot stuff alone. I don't care about the auction house, so that's not a factor in my decision. They are gonna lose customers because of always on DRM. The game will be cracked so the only people who will suffer always on DRM are customers again. I will never buy a game with that kind of DRM.

Except all of the features Diablo 3 took out, Torchlight 2 put back in.

And it's will only be $40. I think that's a good deal.

Well, I think I owe Blizzard another $60 - more in fact - for the amount of joy I have gained from Diablo II (and Warcraft III, and Wow). They have earned my trust as a developer over the past decade, so I will be buying it. The DRM doesn't phase me because it won't be affecting me, or anyone else that I want to play the game with, any more than playing Diablo II online (which I how I intend to play).

Let us hope the sequel is worthy of the name.

But what if your internet breaks down for a short while? I don't know about you, but that's a big problem for me. If I'm gonna pay 60$ for a PC game, I sure as hell want to play it at my leisure. Also, I liked to play D2 on the road, given how much of a time sink it is it's a great use of the travel time. This completely kills that. I realise this is a personal problem, but it's one I know I share with a lot of Diablo fans, and it pisses me off that Blizzard are just going to disregard us.

I played the Beta. I had my trepidations at first about the always on stuff and auction house. But the beta changed those trepidations into confirmation that I was absolutely NOT going to buy this game.

It wasn't even fun. It was also laggy. Maybe my roommate was downloading something, I don't know,. What I do know is my single player game should not have fucking latency issues no matter who is downloading what. I mean these were BAD. Like, fire a spell, watch the animation, wait 1 second and then the projectile releases and enemies teleport everywhere as the game syncs, BAD.

I'm no fan of Blizzard at the moment, but do keep in mind that it's a beta. You really shouldn't judge it until you've seen the final product. No, what worries me more is the way they've simplified it.

The constant internet requirement is a legitimate concern, but it is an effective way to get people who would normally pirate it to shell out the cash for it instead. Im sure there will be cracked versions out there almost immediately for those that want to play on their laptops on the go, but for those that arent familiar with torrents, its a problem.

Even still, I can see the worth in such a controversial move.

You just disclaimed your own argument. They will drive more people to piracy by being assholes, how is that a good thing?

Um. It only takes like, a modicum of willpower.

For example, I was deeply invested in the Mass Effect series, but I have not and will not play that latest piece of crap until theres a legally downloadable non-Origin version.

Anyway, epic congestion in the game market at Diablo 3s launch time, how idiotic. No point for me to buy D3 when The Secret World is so soon after, and then there's the people who want to play that Tera game (not that I understand why) and later Guild Wars 2. Yep, strategy fail from Blizzard here.

It has nothing to do with willpower and everything to do with Diablo 3 is a game that many many people want and are looking forward to, and just because you might have a petty issue with the game doesn't mean that the rest of us should. You don't have to buy any game that you don't want to but the rest of us will keep buying the games we enjoy.

You may not like the choices they make, but they made them and they made them for reasons not apparent to us. I am saying that without all of the information we can not reasonably deduce a company's motives. You see greed at a $60 price tag when that $60 price tag could only be giving them a $2 or $3 profit. Do you know for a fact whether this is false or not? Unless you do then your judgement of them is just ignorant.

Screw you Activision for tainting this big a thing for gaming. This even eclipses EA's Mass Effect 3 shenanigans. ._.

How? You get a non-combat pet in WoW, some special gearcolors in Diablo 3 and a couple of different avatars in Starcraft 2.. which is all cosmetic.

It's not even in the same league as Mass Effect 3.

Well, in that case I can only say that was some embarassingly bad research on my part.
But what I meant with the ME3 comparison was that this is a much bigger game release they're riddling with cash-grabs. ME3 was a lot more brazen, but that wasn't a game people had been waiting for for over a decade. And Diablo III has been actively hyped for almost the entire lifespan of the Mass Effect franchise.
