When single player is closely related to a very hardcore pro-scene in multiplayer, I guess using the built in cheats that allow you to do most everything while remaining localized to single player isn't enough for you?

You cheat, you break the EULA which you have to agree too before you finalize your ownership of the game then guess what you do, you get banned. And that's what you get to do you get to be banned because you broke the agreement.

Game Genie is the biggest thing I've seen here, here's the thing, there's single player and there's single player with achievements with a game that's online. You're using 3rd party cheats to alter your game files, how do you know this isn't touching multiplayer files? Or should blizzard go on the good word of the cheating community.

In game cheats disable achievements, 3rd party cheats don't, 3rd party cheats break your agreement with the EULA and that's the facts. Break contracts an you have to accept the consequences.
You finalize your ownership when you open the game which is BEFORE you read the EULA.
You finalize your ownership when you redeem your CD key, which is AFTER you read the EULA. There is nothing that makes your copy of the game yours, even if you hold the open box in your hands, until you use the CD key.

Resources Granted - Enter ?jaynestown? and you will receive terrazine gas. This is a mineral that is required only for the Belshir mission.

Disable Tech Requirements - Enter ?sosayweall? and all tech requirements will be disabled. This is a reference to the saying ?so say we all? in the newer Battlestar Galactica media series.

?Terran up the Night? Song - Enter ?OverEngineeredCodPiece? and the song ?Terran up the Night? will be played. Note, this will not disable achievements like the other cheats.

Cinematics Menu - Enter ?eyeofsauron? to view the Cinematics menu.

Upgrade Weapons, Armor and Shield by One - Enter ?iamironman? to upgrade all your weapons, armor and shield by 1.

Disable Ability Cooldown - Enter ?hanshotfirst? and ability cooldowns will be disabled.

If you use a cheat in Starcraft 2, then you will not be able to earn achievements while that cheat is active. You will need to either start a new game OR load a previously saved game in order to be able to earn achievements again.

Enjoy your cheats. I doubt you could find anything your trainers could do that those cheats couldn't.

Go talk to Wal Mart about that. They'll tell you that the minute you open it, it's your forever.
Because Wal Mart is who I trust about ownership of an item between me and a company completely unrelated to Wal Mart.

Huh, used to be that when you bought a game, you owned that game and could enjoy it's content in whatever manner you saw fit. Now apparently you're somehow insulting the developer's artistic sensibilities if you cheat or mod the single-player aspects of the game, and they can take away your right to use a product which you legally purchased. [/quote]

You'd think so, but this is actually misinformed. Blizzard owns Starcraft as a product, and you, the person who buys a copy of the game, only legally own a "lisence to use the product."

Merchant Law is weird like that. Legally, Blizzard can do whatever the ballsack they want and get away with it because they own the product in its entirety. The consumer will always get exactly what they're willing to put up with, sadly.

EDIT: Messed up the quotes and too lazy to fix it.

As long as your key isn't used, you can get a refund. If you don't like what the EULA says, then call up the company and demand your money back, and they'll void your CD key.

The way some of you talk about the EULA (which I'll bet most of you don't read anyway) Blizzard could put anything in there and you guys would say "they have every right cause it's in the EULA".

So what if they put in there "We reserve the right to ban you if you are a Democrat". It's ok I guess, it's in the EULA.

There's really nowhere left to go with this. Keep supporting this nonsense and see what tomorrow brings.
Very interesting you bring this up. Actully any gaming server now, EULA can ban you for any reason. But of course they never do that, it hurts their rep.
What is interesting it that it voilated laws regerding consumer's right in some country. In some asia country (let's not name them) which have a very active consumer's right group, it is almost impossible to ban people there, resulting hacker all over the place. Then come gamer groups start to ask about thier right as consumer since they pay 15 dollar a month for a online game as the cheater does, and cheater ruin their game.

My point of view is very alike the gamer group, hacking anything that has to do with multiplayer should be banned, even thing like achievements. You don't care about it, but you are not the only people in this world.

I think Blizzard did know some cheater might just not know there are built in cheats, that is why it is a 14 day ban.

Your argument is totally invalid no mater what view you take this from, it says "DO NOT CHEAT OR YOU CAN LOSE YOUR ACCOUNT" and you cheat...you lose your account and what right do you have to get pissed? You were warned, you agreed, you cheated, no one forced you, no one hacked your account, you cheated you lose your account. End of story, there's NO fighting that.

That's like trying to sue a company after you dipped your hand in their acid after it had warnings everywhere that it was acid and it will melt your hand. Your argument is like trying to say they didn't specify what hand will get melted so you did it anyway.

Again, you were warned, you agreed, you cheated, no one forced you, no one hacked your account, you cheated you lose your account. End of story, there's NO fighting that.

already covered this (see above) behold the power of cheat engine.
If that is all you want to do, then I would have no problem with just you cheating in theory.

But in reality when cheats are made public, for every person who doesn't break the system, someone will. They need to be controlled or else the majority of the game will be ruined.

As entitled as many people feel, in non-important matters like if you can play your game with or without machine gun nukes the minority doesn't matter in the slightest.

Do the built in cheats let me make all the units shoot nukes? Do they let me mess with unit stats in real time? Do they let me use all the tech upgrades at once (the things from the ship, self mining gas, build 2 SCVs at once, etc)? what, no? Yeah, there's no good reason to cheat in a single player game except to mess around. They can take their achievements and fuck off. I don't want them, I don't need them, and I sure as hell won't give up my single player hackery for them.
Build-in editor does. use it.

So what you're saying is you want to use third party cheats just for the sake of it, even though they were being nice by already giving you cheats in-game.

lol, that's like a thief blowing up the wall of a bank to get at the money and all the shiny goodies inside, making quite the scene and drawing all kinds of attention to himself, because he likes the adrenaline rush, even though he's already been given the keys to the vault.

Well, the CD is yours. But the data on it isn't.
It's a license, not a title or a deed.

Scary thought, isn't it?

Blizzard cannot put anything into their EULA that violates the law.
Even then, they cannot put any article or stipulation into it that is "unconscionable" or ethically scandalous (such as putting in a stipulation that gives them the right to charge you money while denying you service for no reason at all).
There are courts for contract law, and EULAs are not exempt.
I honestly don't know why people keep assuming that because an EULA is strict, it gives these companies "GOD LIKE POWERS"!

To those claiming that having the achievements through gives gamers fraudulent achievements and hurts the community: I'm the Pope of China.

Who is to say whether I can be or not?
