Hihi, american courts and their love for huge numbers. How is that person expected to pay that amout? Not, exactly. Because no one has that kind of money just lying around.

hahah...this thread is going places I see. Nice.

Other than my initial reaction, I'd say Blizzard was within every right to sue her considering that she was profiting from what was in the end their own creation. The question isn't *what* Blizzard did wrong - they were in the right in every way.

But the question is *how* it did what it did. And suing someone for an amount that they and their children and their children's children will have to pay off for their entire lives is well...perhaps solid litigation but not very good PR at the least. :D

Yeah, they are totaly evil now because law and justice are only for evil corporations.
Justice =/= law. It never has been. Get this through your head, because this is a prime example. Setting an example of someone isn't "just", and it shouldn't be the way the law functions. It's the same shitty deal with the music corporations suing people for thousands of dollars per song they downloaded illegally. If you think this is justice, we have very differing definitions of it.
I know but it isnt complete injustice either. I said it mainly because of all that hate against the blizzard. They havent ruined her life (probably).

She should be laughing, you can't pay what you don't have, what can they do, take the house? seize the funds..and then? You got a homeless, jobless woman and you're expecting to get 88 million from her. Now thats just funny. If i was here id be like "sure, yeah i'll pay, shall we say 12 cents a day forever? - kthx" They could have picked an actual reachable amount for her to pay, couple of mill, or an amount equal to what she earned during the time. Now they'll be lucky to get anything from a homeless jobless bum - they themselves created.

Serves her right.. cant do illegal things like that and out int he open like she was doing, they clearly state that with all of those EULAs and shit they post.

You guys are crying foul and feeling bad for her.. but she has a whole fucking company set up pretty much gloating about the fact that she is stealing from Blizzard, by running illegal servers and collecting money/donations from people. Plus you have no idea how much money she has made from this.. I think its pretty obvious shes made millions of dollars.

I say. tough shit, you want to mess with the biggest MMO expect to have your ass handed to you when they come for you. Be cool if there is a huge anit-WoW campaign from this too like when Napster ended up fucking over Metallica's image. Soon we will have 8 million nerds looking for a game here for their new Xbox/Ps3 :p

That's quite alot of money. But in the end of the day, it's fair and square. They gave her, along with a bunch of other private servers warnings that this could happend. Most listened, but she did not. It's her own fault.

I saw this coming! I told you, i tried to warn you all!
But none of you listened now, DID YOU?!

But seriously, $88 million?
its not like blizzard needs the money; they are making an example. I wouldnt be surpriesed if private servers all around are closing down right now.

This is quite a ruling. I feel bad for the girl who has to pay so much.

Then again, if they just told her to cease and desist without doing anything else, she probably would've just started up on another server and laughed in Blizzard's faces. So I don't feel bad for her that much.

I don't think it's for the sake of being corporate greedy. I think of it more like "Look what happens when you break the law, punks". I mean, one thing is piracy, another thing is to profit from piracy(what the private server owner did), that's when you cross the line.

No kill like overkill [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill], is it Blizzard? =P Damn

Seriously though, that person will never in life be able to repay all that with interrest! Reeves oughta do a fake-death, get new ID, move to a small island somewhere in Asia, and start from scratch or something. But then again, Reeves might just end up doing something else equally stupid. (There's a reason you're supposed to read the EULA y'know >_>)
