They will likely pirate it anyway. Not everyone has the extremely rare fortune of having 24/7/365 internet access. I live in an area with very high-tech infrastructure (urban Sweden), with about as stable a connection as you can get as an end-consumer (100Mbit cable), but there are still (albeit rare) hourly interruptions, me having to reset the router or wi-fi signalling loss when I'm wireless.Wabblefish said:I don't really see the big deal about it...you just have your internet connected while playing Simple as that.
Whats the big problem with it?
Are people hoping to pirate the game or something?
I would think Blizzard did not devolp Diablo 3 as an MMO. Blizzard developed Diablo 3 the same way they did with 2 (or so we thought). Awesome single player experience with an awesome plot. And then to top it all off, they give us a multiplayer co-op mode that ensured the game would live on for years to come. Not so with D3. We must be online forever to be able to play it. Are you enjoying Single Player and get your internet cuttof? You get the boot. And if your internet doesn't come one again (for whatever reason), then you really should go play other games (as suggested by one of the devs). They have all the right to do this of course but erm... yeah, not with my (and many others) support.EvilScoop said:I'm connected wirelessly through an old Mac notebook, my connection goes out several times a day. I still don't care about always online.escapador said:As many others said, I do not support these online only DRM's from other companies and I will not support it from Blizzard. I also don't understand how there are people who are ok with this, since internet connections are not 100% stable.
Also, Diablo is not a freaking MMO, please don't use that to justify always online. I've enjoyed my Diablo 1 and 2 experiences offline thank you very much.
Say I'm playing D3, my internet blinks and I'm booted out. The time it takes me to get back in is but a few seconds and then I'm back to playing for HOURS before it may happen again. It's a minor annoyance at best, even if the router fails, which it does frequently, that's still just ONE hour or so of troubleshooting. Even if I were to play the game all damn day it would only equate to minimal time lost.
That's why I don't care, because I don't feel entitled or pained about every single second lost.
And your point is invalid, Diablo 1 and 2 weren't MMO's. Diablo 3 however is obviously being designed purely as a co-operative experience. They made it different, so they wouldn't be making it the same.
Easy my friend, lets wait until the game is out and then we will judge if the love is dead or not.Deamonian said:Allright, for a long time D3 has been among my most anticipated games. I've been frothing around the mouth for the thought of once more spamming minions to fight the forces of hell, but...
All this stuff, the Actionhouse, the DRM, it's just killing it for me. I know I'm just preaching to the choir, but I'm seriously starting to doubt if I will buy this game now. Hell, if I buy it, it probably will be when the price drops.
I really get saddened when a company like Blizzard, that I've respected for a verry long time, take a turn straight for the crapper just like some others (Ubisoft, anyone?). There's a reason I stopped buying Ubisoft games. So, I'll just have to hope that Bethesda doesn't follow this trend, and I'll hope Skyrim will fulfill all my RPG needs this winter.
I loved you once Diablo, but I now feel that my love isn't answered.

You do understand that real money AH is just trading?Dexter111 said:Also in what possible is it NOT Pay2Win if the guy spending 100$ barely having played the game can beat the guy putting 100+ hours of his time into it?
