Funny thing that I didn't actually think of at first as far as getting tattooed goes, you have to shave the area you're getting tattooed. I had to shave off all my arm hair lol... took about six months for it to grow back and look more or less like it did before... now I'm going to have to do that again for the touch ups.. >.>

it's your body, you do what you want with it. i don't have any right to tell you you should conform to my standards of what is beautiful or appropriate.

personally i'm not opposed to body modification but i don't like doing anything permanently.

Eh.
If someone wants to have a butterfly painted on their nipple on a skull right on their arse, that's fine, but anything else is not something that I like.
ESPECIALLY any sort of piercing.

The only piercing I have is a Prince Albert (dick piercing) and i have tattoos. Really I'm cool with anything in the body mod art. I might very well get sub-dermal implants and split my tongue. If it makes me "unemployable" as a couple people have pointed out, my response is that i wouldn't want to work at those kinds of places anyway. the ideal job for me would be growing medical herb. Self employed FTW

Go for it I say. Just make sure you think of the consequences and don't ***** about it afterwards. Not that I personally find much of the weird stuff attractive but I won't tell them no.

Anything that doesn't physically deform you I'm okay with. I have a (very unexciting) earring, and I'm going to get a tattoo when I decide what I want. And I have no problem with people who tattoo their whole bodies, or have twenty rings in their ears and six studs in their eyebrows. It's stuff like silicone horn implants, tongue splitting and what have you that look really ridiculous. Piercings can be removed, tattoos covered up for the most part. Everything else you're stuck with, and it's going to look increasingly ridiculous as time goes on.

Anything and everything really, though usually when i think body art, I either thing paint painted on a woman in a temporary manner, though I would also include tattoos on that.

Of coures I dont have anything, but I'd like to get three tattoos (maybe for, if I could talk my two friends into it).

You only live once, god dammit, so if you want to make yourself look awesome/weird then go right ahead. If you want to spend it judging other people for doing what they like, then go nuts.

People can waste their time and skin however they please, it's not my business. I have a few scars I'm proud of, how different is that to commemoration through a tattoo? Theirs is better done, I suppose.
This is about my feelings on it. I personally find well-done tattoos to be attractive and I don't mind piercings, everything else is up to the individual. It might not appeal to me, but people are free to do what they want to their skin and I'm not one to judge.

I personally just have my ears pierced and they used to be stretched but I let them grow back. I'm also going to be getting my first tattoo in a few months once my financial/job situation is a little more stable.

Having a tattoo myself, the piercing and tattoos dont bother my so much, in moderation, but disfiguring yourself in ways like tongue splitting is way past the line.

I don't care if people have piercings or tattoos. To each their own. but if they are an asshole it is not because of how they look.
The only problem is if they meet my dad. He is very conservative and uptight with any type of piercing or tattoo no matter in what taste it is in.Which is very annoying because a quarter of my friends do have visable tattoos and are fantastic good people to be with but he won't be able to look beyond that.
I do have plans to get at least one tattoo and it will be this:

It is to always tell me that deep down I will always be Canadian and to sort of honour my family. I know full fact that my dad will despise it right off the bat. so once I leave home HA ZA!

got my tat's and I love them! Keep adding to them every so often when I've sat on an idea long enough.
Piercing's are cool but I always let mine heal up (only had ears and nose done) but some are a bit too extreme for me

See I happen to think that is in a way rather beautiful and as for the penis piercing I have one, not as intrusive or painful as you might think and at the end of the day it will close up if removed!.

Only time I really hate shit like tattoos is when its generic crap. You can tell some people just walk into the tattoo parlour, open a sample book and pick whatever generic crap they are into.
At least my tattoo is gonna be unique to me.
Thats how its meant to be!

Take it from me, you design your own tat, work out a style and find an artist thats good at that style, tell them you want it nice and big, and you'll get a fantastic piece of work.

Tattooists ink up generic crap every day, so when somebody comes in with cool new big idea, they really get into it. If the artist is enjoying working on you, you'll get the best work they can do.

The only "body art" that I consider beautiful is tattoos. The other shit is just disgusting, although I understand why people do it.

As an artist myself, I am surrounded by people that have all sorts of body modifications, and, asking them, they have given me the following answers as to why they do it:

1. They look good.
2. They want their body to be a canvas to express their artistic side
3. It's unique and differenciates from the rest of the crowd (I disagree with this but whatever)
4. They demonstrate commitment to the art world.

I have done nothing to myself, but I was planning on getting a tattoo. One I designed myself and done by people I trust. I'm not gonna just rush into a store and tell a guy "yeah just draw some skulls and shit whatever" like most people do, because that's the kind of shit you end up regretting.

I have met plenty of tattooists and they really appreciate when someone walks in with an already designed thing and they know exactly what they want to get done. It's also a good way to network since people that design their stuff are artists that can lead you to meet other artists, that may or open you oportunities to find new jobs and whatnot.

Best thing you can do is visit a tattooist, get to know him, tell him what you want, and be as friendly as possible. You really don't want to fuck with the person that is gonna be burning your skin for the next few hours

Seeing as to how I have 2 full sleeves, my vote has already been pretty much cast.

There are a few different groups of body modification people:

1) The "it must be something deeply meaningful and symbolic" people. Those people are the douchebags, as they feel that their decision was well made while sneering at those people who modify their bodies for "no real reason".
Haha, the worst kind of people aka those who don't have any tattoos but want one (excluding but not limited to the giggling college girl who forever will be like, "Oh I see you have tattoos. I have one, do you want to see?" The answer will always be no.) While they might not be as unbearable as the "getting Taz smoking a blunt" group, they let their tattoos consume their lives and shove it down everyone's throats. The trash would rather live their life doing whatever white trash does (I'd list but I'd probably get a warning).
