you just summed it up perfectly really in 3 words...Feriluce said:Pretty sure the motive was "Blow shit up"Furburt said:This happens in my country pretty much every day. A bomb went off near me when I was up there recently. Scary shit man.
Still, strange to see it on the continent. I'd like to know what the motive was.
He probably had a prosthesis but I dunno how he got it. He might be a suicide bomber who doesn't get the concept of suicide. This man is not only a terrorist, he might literally be an idiot.superbatranger said:Wait. Did you say one-legged bomber? What the fuck was he going to do? Set the bomb and hop away?
The bomb was also found on Eid, which could have meant an entirely different message being sent.Boneasse said:I just think it's one HELL of a coincidence that the bomb was found one day before September 11th. But maybe that's just me?
Woodsey said:OT: Stuff like this in England only ever seems to be attempted in London, and that's 3 hours away from me so it's hard to feel much connection to such things (for me, at least).
Speaking as a Mancunian, and remembering the regular bomb threats and gaping hole in my city when the IRA blew it up, I feel obligated to correct you on the 'it only happens in London' point.TheGameXXVII said:i live in the UK, but not in London, so if any terrorist bombings were to happen, odds are i'd not be affected, since London is pretty much the main target for any terrorists here.
Yeah, it's not like any Basques have ever tried to blow anything up. Or have recently declared another "honest, we mean it this time" ceasefire...burzummaniac said:Southern European!? I doubt it... Probably North Libyan or something.
Ot: I doubt anyone would bother trying to pull of a terrorist attack here in Malta. It would be a waste of time and resources.
That's what I was thinking. Why would Basques attack Denmark? Like I said, probably Libyan. The Basques haven't been particularly violent as of late, though.Soylent Dave said:The bomb was also found on Eid, which could have meant an entirely different message being sent.Boneasse said:I just think it's one HELL of a coincidence that the bomb was found one day before September 11th. Also it was found on a Friday - the best days to blow people up are Friday night and Saturdays (more people out and about). The date could - and almost certainly is - purely coincidental.
... that last bit isn't meant to sound like a recommendation.
I wouldn't be too worried anyway - this isn't so much 'organised terrorist plot' as it is 'deranged fuckhead'. A bit like that guy who wanted to blow planes up by setting fire to his shoes.
(Yes, that is why they check your shoes for explosives on aeroplanes now. No, it doesn't make any sense.)

(although we did get a lovely new city centre out of it)
Ulster also gets blown up quite a lot.

I spent quite a bit of my primary school years being evacuated from places (including my school) because of bomb threats - which was always more 'inconvenient' than 'frightening'.Woodsey said:The IRA was a bit before my time - or very early in it. I don't really know to be honest.

I detest the idea with 100% of my mortal being. That people will blindly attack someone for assaulting their ideology. I am going to build a nuclear bomb shelter and stay there until after the shit hits the fan.ChaoticKraus said:Fortunate incident right there, i guess it had something to do with those muhammad sketches you guys put out a while back.
I'm not particulary afraid of terrorists, we here in Sweden also had one guy who sketched Muhammad as a dog. All that happened to him was that some brainwashed teenagers failed to burn down his vacation home. They are on trial now i think.
