I wanted the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind to become a movie. I always thought it was wistful thinking.

I got one better. It's a TV series. I found it on youtube.com and have watched the 55 videos. They go in order, so I just let it autoplay. Besides the slight pause between videos, it's great to see my favorite book series come to life! This is the first video of the series. There are five parts total, so you'll have to go to youtube in order to get the rest of the first episode.
just letting you know those episodes are also available in better quality on hulu

Twilight!!!

But seriouly i think roadside picnic would amke an awesome film. It inspsired the stalker film and games. As long as Holywood has nothing to do with it, it has the potential to be great.
Its set in Canada, is the Canadian film industry any good?

I think that R.A. Salvatore's Dark elf and Icewind Dale trilogies would make for great movies.

Also, Why aren't there more H.P. Lovecraft movies?! He is one of the most imaginative storytellers I've read and it seems a shame that no one has take advantage of that.

Oh, and we need a better version of I am Legend. Preferably one with more in common with the book then just the title.

Probably been done but: The Hobbit, quickly now before Gandalf dies of old age(the actor who plays him, I know his name but not how to spell it).

Helmut Krausser's Thanatos.
Dune, since all previous attempts more or less failed .
Neuromancer and Snow Crash.
Some old Star Wars books, since I find the current lack of lightsaber battles... disturbing.

The Bible. Would I watch it? No. Would millions of people pay to see it? Yes. It would be a prequel to Passion of the Christ, and would make money hand over fist.

Coming this Fall: Passion of the Christ: Origins

All Quiet On The Western Front. Yes, I know that this was already made into film several times, but I think w/ modern movie making tecniques ans if they don't change the book's ending (as far as I know, none of the movies ended like the book did), it could be a great war movie. Plus, how many WWI movies are out there really?

I'd love to see the Discworld Books by Terry Pratchett. (They made a couple films, but uhm...low budget British indie films, more or less. Not that they were bad, but I'd love to see Death done with a bigger budget.)

And Expendable by James James Alan Gardener would be an awsome sci fi film.

And the Mrs. Pollifax novels. Can't remember who wrote them, but a movie about an old lady being a spy and kicking arse (she's a blackbelt, heh)? How could that be bad?

none - no book should ever be make into a movie.

theres 2 ways of ruining a good book

1) the hollywood way

2) the managa way

the hollywood way just shit on it and the managa way is where they will add in filler somewhere leading the story onto a sida path that everyone hates

also when you take a story away from its orginal medium it almost always falls to pieces as it was not designed to be in that medium (anyone who makes a book to be make into a movie should be shot)

The Secret History by Donna Tartt and Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Two of the most intense, engaging books I have ever read.

Then there's House of Leaves, but I don't see how that mind twister of a book can be made a movie.

The Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow over Innsmouth or The Dunwich Horror.

We actually get to see a type of monster in each of these stories since alot of Lovecrafts stuff works on people filling in the blanks and would love to see the corpse city of R'lyeh on the big screen.
