Seven Ancient Wonders by Matthew Reilly would make a fairly awesome action/treasure hunt romp.

Pratchett's discworld books, but i doubt that can be done properly with all, so it will remain a wish.
Maybe more Lukianenkos.

I think unless a book is particularly plot orientated or visual then a book should be a book and a film should be a film.
I love film and My room is practicly a library but I think a book is often good because of writing style and atmosphere and making somehting into a film can cheepen or ruin that plus they have to change things and usually add sex/violence/insertt cliche to make the masses like it which can ruin the essence of the story.

Twilight worked because the books are simply written (not that I would rate either as good). Lord of the rings worked bacause the plot is so full. The shipping news was ruined because they changed the charactes and didnt seem to understand the essence of the book.

none - no book should ever be make into a movie.

theres 2 ways of ruining a good book

1) the hollywood way

2) the managa way

the hollywood way just shit on it and the managa way is where they will add in filler somewhere leading the story onto a sida path that everyone hates

also when you take a story away from its orginal medium it almost always falls to pieces as it was not designed to be in that medium (anyone who makes a book to be make into a movie should be shot)
I think there are numerous movies/graphic novels/etc. that refute this. I think part of it is on the creators of the translation itself; it demands to be crafted with love, attention to detail, and an appreciation of the original work's feel. The other part is the perspective of the reader/viewer. In a great adaptation, you should gain as much as you give up. The Shining loses many of the flashbacks and eerie asides that the original text has, but you gain so much more with addition of a score, some iconic camera shots, and excellent character portrayal.

In that way, I'm always down for a screen/comic adaptation -- if only to see what the new version will bring to light despite my reservations. Optimistic, I know, but it's wonderful to be surprised :)

Against a Dark Background (Iain M Banks)
Elric/Stormbringer (Michael Moorcock)
Orbiter (Warren Ellis)
Wasp Factory (Iain Banks)
Gates Of Fire (Steven Pressfield?)
4 Days In June (Ian Gale)

DON'T YOU EVER SUGGEST MAKING A MOVIE OF AN IAN BANKS BOOK AGAIN! If you ruin the last great pieces of contemporary sci-fi i will hunt you down and gut you.

Dinotopoia is about a Kid and his farther who get wrecked on an island populated dinosaurs and by shipwrecked people. Its a kids story so as long as you get the whole these Dinosaurs are intelligent and have built a society idea you couldn't screw it up.

Certain plotlines in The Malazan Book of The Fallen. The Chain of Dogs NEEDS to be a film.

Terry Gillian was actually working on an adaptation of that, but I think they had a problem with the funding, and it was supposed to have Johnny Depp in it. Here's a video.

Ender's game by Orson scott card.

I would give everything I owned to charity to see this made
I see your Ender's Game and raise you...

Empire by Orson Scott Card.

A fine political thriller/action movie could be made. A war between the left wing and the right wing breaks out.

Fight Club

Make it again. It needs to be done. Keep everything the same... but new
I'd rather see ANY of Chuck Palahniuk's books put to life. Survivor would be pretty cool. In all seriousness, his novel Invisible Monsters has funding and is going to be filming soon. It's a great book and I can imagine an even better movie.. the director really knows his shit.

Every Tom Clancy book that isn't already a movie.

Hyperion, but I know they'd fuck it up.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy. Though I know they'd fuck it up really, really bad.

Books..what the hell are bo...OH Right...those. um..lets see, well..my first thought would be Where's Waldo..but something tells me that wouldnt work out too well. From there, perhaps a movie based off of the Eyewitness' Crystal and Gem book. If not those, than maybe J.R.R Tolkien's "The Silmarillion"....nah.....better off with Where's Waldo...who DOESN'T like Waldo.
