I vote for either a turn based strategy or a huge open-ended RPG of George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series. (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, a Feast for Crows, so far.)

That would be amazing.

Yes.

Call of Cthulhu. Oh wait, they're doing that (nerdgasims).
PShaw, an old fashioned Silent Movie was already made by the Lovecraft Historical Society, it was really awesome! I don't think Hollywood will ever get Lovecraft right, Except for the AMOM movie by Del Toro...

I really wouldn't like to see any of my favourite books be films or games because then everyone starts talking about them and not quiet understanding it properly it goes all main stream and it just generally annoys me and ruins the book for me. which is also a big problem I have with Richard and Judy's book club (which is like Oprah's if your American) every book they select seems to be one I read a few months before, people are such sheep.

Illuminatis! and Schroedingers Cat Series. Total of 6 books compiled into 2.

Anyone looking for a GREAT Mind $#*& experience of books:

http://www.amazon.com/Illuminatus-Trilogy-Pyramid-Golden-Leviathan/dp/0440539811/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b

http://www.amazon.com/Schrodingers-Cat-Trilogy-Universe-Pigeons/dp/0440500702/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218123864&sr=1-2

Trust me, while reading them you just know you are missing something and a re-read may be necessary and you may only really get it months or years later. GREAT series of books. Read the reviews and you will (probably not, but that's the point) understand.

Why would it be a good movie or game? Imagine a Mind #$*& on the level of Fight Club's ending about every 10 minutes. That would be a thrill ride.

John Steakley's classic Armor would rule as a movie, although the way it's separated into two parts it wouldn't make a very good video game.

Tad Williams' Otherland series, but only with one movie per book and only by Peter Jackson. Would also make an excellent FPS/survival game (i.e. Stalker) or WOW-style MMORPG. The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy would be good too.

Steven Brust's "Vlad Taltos" novels would make good movies or games as well, and Cowboy Feng's Space Bar and Grille would make an awesome movie.

And any of Lois McMaster Bujold's "Miles Vorkosigan" books, or Tanya Huff's "Honor" books, or Elizabeth Moon's excellent "Sheepherder" trilogy, or -

Dang, now I'm depressed. I can choose between Mamma Mia, The Mummy 3, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Step Brothers, and Space Chimps. WTF? Seriously, Hollywood, WTF?

Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut would be an interesting choice, though I think it would be better suited to the big screen.

Also, The Stand by Stephen King would make an interesting RPG.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King would be a perfect tv show. They would need some serious talent to pull it off properly. Also the theme would have to be Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. But it would rock.

To all the people suggesting Redwall: really? You don't think the not-so-subtle plot of genocide and discrimination is a bit of a dubious thing to be introducing to kids? After all, it was aimed at kids as books, so that would logically be who the film is targeted at.

The idea of a Discworld film could work, seeing as the TV specials were okay...but the 'main' characters of the Discworld films...it would be terrible to see an actor playing them. Better to keep them in the imagination, I think.
And now we know why the TV specials were awesome. We had an escapist forum member exerting their artistic influence on the project.

I second the motion of a game based on the Oregon Files.

Not sure if manga counts or not, but I have to say Gunsmith Cats woud work well as a Max Payne style shooter. Just add in some car chases, and viola.

Tales of Arda's first age made into a movie. More importantly, who should cast in all these movie? I'm not big on actors but I hope someone good.

Watchmen as a movie... oh wait, Woopie!!!

I would like to see Goethe's Faust used as a premise for a movie or video game, it would be hard to translate in to such mediums however...

Ghost in the Shell would make a great movie (Live action) in the hands of a good director with final cut control.
