Stephen King's The Running Man

My God that would make for the best open-ended game ever. It would literally shit all over GTA and the like if done properly, and dominate the entire 'open world mayhem' market with an iron fist. The premise of the book is absolutely perfect for a game: Stay alive for 30 days whenever everyone wants you dead, if you can do that, you win... of course no one stays alive for 30 days. No one!

Personally I'm seeing it like a modern Roguelike game, where the goal isn't so much to win as it is to experiment and try to beat your own records in an incredibly open ended world. Add some rpg elements, an open world, some stealth gameplay mechanics, and you've got the perfect modern open-world premise for a game.

An Oblivion-style game in the Wheel of Time world might be fun. Well, it would be fun in most reasonable fantasy settings too I suppose. I have no idea what kind of game Discworld would best translate into though.

1984. But that's more because I really enjoyed the book, I have very little ideas on how it could be made into a game. Maybe a sims style thing where you do the slightest thing wrong and it's instant game over?

The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher. But they'd probably screw it all up...

The Night Angel trilogy would probably make a good series of video games. Make it like a cross between Thief and Assassins Creed and you'd probably have a game of the year.

Lord of the Rings, well, middle earth anyway, not necessarily at the time of lord of the rings, infact i think it'd be better if it wasn't, there were plenty other times in middle earth when there were a load of big battles going on.

I know there have been LOTR/middle earth games before but i'd like to see an RPG one, not a MMORPG but something in the style of oblivion. oh and you wouldn't play as any heroes from midde earth, just your character.

A game based on Card's Ender's Game would be pretty cool so long as the focus isn't on Ender or Bean because their stories have already been told. Making a game based on Battle School would be far better that trying to re-tell Ender's Game via videogame. There could also be a mini-game mechanic featuring th Fantasy Game or the games in the game room. Battle School could make a great setting for a videogame so long as the focus is not on any of the established characters.

A Game of Thrones. An RPG where you can do stuff like: horseriding, jousts, melee battles, treason, shoving kids off of balconies or just scream "HODOR" to every npc.

Game of he Year? You betcha!

Fight Club...how would that work?
Well, they tried to make a game from the movie...didn't work

OT: The Hunger Games series of books could be a fun game. Yeah you're running around killing kids, but the story is great?

Mogworld all the way!
Lol, that would be ironic right?

Anyway, I just want to say I think books could translate a lot better into game format than into movie format, mostly because you don't have the 2hr time constraint.

As for picking a book, well, nothing like a good pirate game. Captain Blood!
