Hello fellow escapists,

I was wondering if people could recommend me some books/series to read? I prefer sci-fi, but any genre is good. My favorite author is R.A. Salvatore, though i've read some threads that claim he is overrated o_O. I was thinking about reading Glen Cook's Black Company series, can anyone say if this book is worth the money or not?

EDIT: sorry meant to say sci-fi or fantasy

EDIT 2: I guess i should also mention that I have already read all the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (a really good series), just saying this because a ton of people have recommended it (which says a lot about how good the books are)
If you want fantasy I'd reccomend Darren Shan books.

There's a vampire series or a demon one, I'd reccomend the Demon one.
But both series' are fantasy with a horror edge laced with humour, great reads and not hard to get into at all.
that was a GOOD description

The Dark Tower Series
I second this notion. I'm currently half-through the seventh and last book. I can also recommend I am Legend and Fahrenheit 451 (fantastic book.)

I intend to read Catch 22 and 1984 as well, as I've heard they are very good, but I haven't read them yet.

The Mortal Engine books seem interesting as well, and I think I'm going to read those too.

If it be science-fiction yer lookin for, there's a fine writey-wench by the name of Kathleen Ann Goonan.
She doesn't write about pirates, the landlubess. Sails an obscure and treasury subgenre called 'Nanopunk'. Arr.
