Depends completely on the classes skill types and weapon preferences. I also won't be playing it co-op, so I'm hoping they're not all supportive ones.

Don't know when I'll be getting BL2, but I did like Borderlands. Got it for like 10 ? on a Steam sale. And I played it a couple of times when I was really drunk. There are not too many games that go well with that.
Well, from what I've read, the skill trees for each character aren't weapon focused like they were in the original.

You know, like how Mordecai specialised in snipers and revolvers while Lilith was elemental SMGs.

Any character can use any weapon without feeling like that they should be using something else to maximise skill potential.

Skill trees will focus on powers and passive buffs I imagine.

Salvador, most definitely. Playing as Brick I was let down by the rocket launchers in borderlands being crap, hopefully dual wielding them will be much more beneficial in number 2.
...
Wait, wut?

The launchers in Borderlands were crap? Maybe you never got your hands on a good one, lol. The launchers in the first game were by far some of the most awesome rocket-spewing death machines I've ever been able to use in a game, much less see. There were launchers that fired 3 rockets at once that flew in a helix spiral pattern, and one of these I had would result in a fire damage mini-nuke explosion upon impact. What part of that is not awesome? Not to mention the launchers that had, like, a 7 or 8-round rapid fire burst, effectively turning everything in front of you into explosions. With Brick's passive upgrades to increase your launcher's clip size, double your reload speed, and even grant you extra rocket ammo upon killing, you essentially turn into a lumbering giant who rapid-fires rockets everywhere, whilst also possessing the ability to PUNCH THINGS AND MAKE THEM EXPLODE. ON A WHIM. If you manage to get your hands on one of these fast-firing launchers with an added elemental dmg bonus or bigger blast radius, then you are truly stepping into the realm of things that are overpowered. Seriously... a rocket launcher in a game rarely ever not badass. In Borderlands, this was doubly so. I'm only more excited for blowing up countless baddies to kingdom come in the next game. :)

Gotta go with Axton.

I'm always the weapon guy in RPGs. Same with last game, I played Roland and split my purpose between damage dealing and team support. Axton looks much the same, but with a better turret and now with more guns to choose from.

I've got two friends who played through Borderlands 1 with me who are going to be reprising their roles much the same. My friend who played the Berserker will be Gunzerker, and my friend who played Siren will do the same.

We're still trying to see who among our circle will play our fourth as Zer0.

Zer0, for obvious reasons. I'm a snipin' man.

Also, reading through this thread, it's pretty impressive that Gearbox has created options that appeal so broadly. I thought most of the focus would be on the two classes I spent the most time with (Mordecai and Roland) but it seems to be almost fairly split.

Kudos

Yeah, I'm impressed by that too :D

When I saw the first trailer, I saw Zer0 and my first thought was, 'Calling it. Every man and his dog will use ninja guy.'

Sounds like I can focus on more important things when picking a character then, like what their views on painting platypuses with synthetic neon colors are and if they'd rather owning an unreliable helicopter over a timeshare cottage overlooking a disused industrial area in the viscinity of New Jersey.

That does sound like a much better system than what was in the prequel. It's kind of a shame when you feel your choices having as much impact as choosing the ripeness of the bananas you're throwing into the lake, when assigning skill points in an RPG'ish game.

Thanks for the insight.

Gunzerker.

A) Dual Wielding Shotguns/Launchers is possibly the greatest tactic I have ever had the opportunity to use.
B) Because I'm the tallest guy in my group, and I like my characters to be Ironic.

Hey don't get me wrong, I do think they were incredibly fun just like all the other guns in the game but they weren't balanced well, their damage and radius was too low for endgame, and the hit detection was wonky. When you compared them to, say, a grenade firing shotgun they were pretty naff damage wise.

If I buy the game I'll probably either play as Zer0 or Axton. Maybe the Mechromancer when it comes out. Most likely Axton, because I'm that incredibly boring person who always go with the solder/default Human character, mainly because I like to take the Boring but Practical approach to video games. Also he can drop what look like TF2 sentries on steroids. Also, Daystar you're engaged? I knew you had a girlfriend (same one since you were 15) but congrats man.
