Gimme a better story (at least slightly, at least to make me think I'm doing something more than just shooting random things for no apparent reason), guns with clips instead of revolver barrels (I really, really fucking hate revolvers) and more freedom instead of just a big map built like a maze. With those, I'd probably play the hell out of the game.
You hate revolvers?

How can you hate revolvers?!
He must never have found the ones that shoot a spread like a shotgun.

And to be fair, some of the revolvers did suck. Like the ones with a 2-3 round barrel. Heh, my friend found one of those that had a faster reload rate than it's fire rate. Hearing him shoot it off would sound like:

Bang...Bang. Bang.... Bang .Bang.... Bang. Bang.

I hated the explosive physics, ruined the rocket launchers for me. And on higher difficulties it was just nuts, enemies would take several clips each, 8-12 rockets etc, usually just run up to them and shoot a clip into their head unless you were killed first, and sometimes your killed really really fast, even Brick. I'd like to see a fantasy remake with the 4 player co-op and randomized weapon mixing.

Yeah. Mordecai with a masher is extremely powerful.

For BL2: Online splitscreen, more guns, lots more stuff, more RPG stuff, more awesome.
Why the hell would you want online splitscreen? Splitscreen is horribly tedious when you do inventory management; that's a reason why online play is great!

Borderlands needs to just me an MMOFPS.

You have the online multiplayer and duals. Now just make rooms where everyone can hang out in and find teams, the quests can be instanced like in GW.

Then add clan support, more bosses, and clan/guild wars.

A great Idea for Borderlands 2 would be to not make it
Borderlands doesn't need a sequel

don't get me wrong I had fun with Borderlands but it doesn't need a sequel

one thing that really annoyed me was part of the underdome DLC where they would tell you to use a rocket launcher...well I don't have a rocket launcher so fuck that, so I run around with my shotgun and I get killed, I run around with my sniper rifle and get killed.

that DLC isn't balanced.

Well for starters they could make the environments a bit more interesting.

When I first got the game I played it alot and loved it (This was for the xbox) but I try picking it up again now (I've tried too on pc) and I just can't seem to get into it for the environments.

I just really do, not sure why. Clips seem so much more practical and easy to use :\
I want to slap yourself for calling a magazine a clip. Do it. Then every time you think the word clip in reference to a magazine, I want you to slap yourself again.

Borderlands is a lot of fun, I actually stopped playing to post this.
Maliwan is officially awesome in my book.
However, I really wish you could move scopes from weapon to weapon, or just have some sort of forging tool where you could mix up certain parts from similar weapons.
I also wish mission difficulties would fluctuate depending on your level. A bit of power-leveling, and you were suddenly 7 levels ahead of every mission for the rest of the game.
EDIT: Also, revolvers are badass. That's the bottom line.

Borderlands, in my honest opinion, wasn't that great. It had a flimsy storyline, leaving the player to do whatever he wanted in the open world. To some, that is great, but there isn't much to do in Pandora. You can run around and kill the same few enemies over and over again (Skags and Humans) or you can do rather weak side quests that order you to get object A or kill a few things. It's like playing an MMO without the Massive part. Not to mention that as a single player game, it failed miserably. It is just not meant to be played by yourself and that made it rather unfun to play when everyone I knew moved on from it.

The unlimited gun things made no difference either. No matter what gun they spewed out, 99.9% it would be a crappy gray weapon that made my gun look like a god. Generating hundreds of guns does nothing if there is little chance of you getting a better gun.

Not to mention that I wouldn't mind only allowing players to play as one of the four characters only, to prevent all soldier teams or Hunter Teams or whatever. But I doubt that would ever get fixed.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. However, during the 2nd playthorugh I just found it to be too repetitive for my tastes. Not sure if that would have been an issue if I'd been playing it in multiplayer, as I later started a multiplayer game and enjoyed it. I thought that, while the characters did need more development, the dialog in the game was very nice.

good story with a bad ending.

Also, don't ditch the cartoon graphics, it was a part of what defined the game.

I'd also like to quickly add that the game had no story, plot, or point. It would have been awesome if Borderlands had the quest and NPC system of FO3. You never see a citizen fire a weapon, or indeed move, ever. For that matter, where are the other citizens who live there and don't run important businesses?
For that matter, just the depth of the towns in FO3 would have been awesome.

More enemies, more guns, less HP for enemies, and some more use out of Electricity weapons would be nice.

I like the comic-book graphics, though they put a strain on my eye after awhile; gives me a headache.

I'd also like to see more boss battles where strategy is key to winning, rather than "get a good gun, here's the exploit spot, have fun farming him with little to no effort" ala Crawmerax.

Allow us to spawn four vehicles in a four person game, rather than two. Give us some alternative costume options aside from merely changing the colors, and perhaps even finding items that we can wear, like hats or something.

And finally...make the guns sound believable. I hate the guns now, where about 60% of them (revolvers and sniper rifles are the worst) sound like they're made by Mattel, and were originally intended to be plastic with flashing strobe lights inside them.

the mixing parts sounds good but some limits like you cant put a mega drum magazine onto a frame thats very small.

All I'd want for that is the ability to switch out scopes and clips, from say a Vladof sniper rifle to another Vladof sniper rifle.
