Im a Classic Trek fan. I cant stand the serious ones...I hate dramas, and Im not good with shows that I have to follow a plot for more than about an hour. I like that when I watch the origional Star Trek, it doesnt matter if I saw the episode right before, since each one was usually a stand alone episode. It was a status quo show, only ever gaining and losing one shot red shirts.
You mean monster of the week type shows? I really don't like those kinds of things, but I suppose people can like different things. Babylon 5 had a somewhat monster of the week approach at first (which as I said I didn't like) but there were always tidbits that would come back in the later seasons.

Well...not like that. The origional series was FUN and entertaining. I watch it more like a comedy or something. I dont like serious. Serious is boring. It was a more light hearted series with enemies and problems that rarely got to a devastaing point, or if they did, its hard to believe.

I think Frakes could do a good job creating a new century for Star Trek. I think the guys behind TNG, DS9, and Voyager wore out the 24th century by setting three series in it. Time for a change of era. Jump ahead 120 years after the events of Nemesis to the early 26th century and put a Romulan in the captain's chair of the Enterprise-I.

Am I the only one that felt Enterprise got better near the end?

but by the time those episodes aired, the show's fate was already decided, too bad.

I always thought Scott Bakula would make a good captain, but then I watched and was wrong.

Seeing as Frakes had directed quite a few episodes (and a few movies - which were really good), I might've thought he'd be an ideal candidate to get the ball rolling again- i.e. fan love, series love and having someone who knows what's going on enough without necessarily making an alternate universe where they can screw with things.

I'd love to see a series based around the Starfleet Time Police, or whatever they were called in Voyager. That would have some potential...

*entering Picard fanboy mode* William Shatner would have spend an entire three seasons speaking (with a coma after every word) about how awesome he and his fanboys think he is.

Kirk FTL! Picard FTW!

/Picard fanboy

It would actually be neat to see, but with the new film (which people seem to have a bunch of unnecessary hate for, just sayin') going back and retreading ground doesn't seem like a good idea at this point.

I would be game for a new show. The Universe is ripe for story telling. They can go in so many directions. The problem I have with Fringe is if I miss an Episode I am lost for good (Like Lost), so I stopped watching and will just wait for the DVD. Star Trek could be episodic, watch one and done, yes there were over-riding plot points and a story that continued but you could enjoy one an dmore on.

Can someone please explain to me just why exactly Enterprise was canceled?
I always thought StarTrek was a bunch of boring space ninnies until the premiere of Enterprise came on TV. Then I became a semi-Trekker and started watching reruns of all the other series.... Except for Deepspace9. That one was crap.

Also, the reason Nemesis failed was because it was a shitty film. Not because there was still a TV show running.

The Next Star Trek movie will probably be a reimagining of Picard's journey, like how the recent one was about Kirk.

I'm sorry what now? Where are you getting that? J.J. Abrams spent a whole movie creating a new canon. He won't abandon those characters for quite some time I think.
