Really? Who kills their own brother over a device, in fact who kills their own brother regardless. Hes your brother for god's sake. they should be nice together not fighting each other over meaningless things. Now one of them is dead. I hope that kid regrets what he did for the rest of his life.

Sorry, its just things like this really REALLY piss me off.
Im sorry but Brothers are supposed to fight over meaningless things, its part of being Brothers!

But grabbing a knife over meaningless things is a bit much

Wow. What a little *****.

This kid needs more than 5 years. He murdered someone, and not just ANYONE -- he killed his brother. I feel sorry for the 18 year old. He didn't have to die, especially over something so stupid and petty.

I'd kill him, too. Touching my shit...
I kid, I kid.
Kid deserves to go to jail for as long as possible. If he's gonna murder his brother for turning on his console, he's not right in the head. He's only gonna murder more people...
Because if someone has mental problems you do not force them to get professional help, you make them go to prison where their mental health can degrade even further.

Is there a contest going on in the world about "which country has the most messed up children"
We got
Koreans marrying in-animate objects.
Russians raising digital kids instead of their own.
Japanese
Chileans killing their brothers for the most mundane things.
Americans seemingly killing schoolmates for not being bullied enough.

I cannot see why you would kill someone over that, especially you own brother. That is something you have to live with and cannot take back. I wonder if there were any signs that hinted that this would happen, because frankly I find it hard to see someone getting killed over turning on a PS3. Still, I guess some murders have been commited for less or more ridiculous reasons.

Does any one know how old the younger brother was? Was it a big difference, or only one or two years younger?

Surely it isn't this:
abandoned by their mother
or this:
spent 10 years as wards of the state
or even this:
She was visiting Belgium when the killing happened
Nooohohoooo siree! My expert detective nose tells me there's a scent of something much more sinister going on here. Clearly all the clues point to THIS:
simply for turning on / playing his PS3
being the very cause of the murder!

it probably was a bunch of other shit culminating in the homicide.
Yes, but it's so much easier to find a scapegoat isn't it? And it makes for much biased controversial anti-game journalism. Such a childhood would leave pretty decent scars on anyone, but it's only mentioned marginally.

I know my brother and I fight all the time. Sometimes we hit eachother and stuff like that. I know it is just a part of being brothers. Still, I never have know any fights I have had that have built to really doing damage (using knifes and other weapons). I think you should be able to calm down before anything like that happens. I just don't see how it could escilate into something like stabbing someone. Especially if it is their brother.

The teenager could face five years in prison.
Five years? What a fucking joke. How about 20?
That was my initial thought too.

If you kill someone over something as small and trifle as this, i really hope there was some kind of culmination up to it. Otherwise... there is something seriously wrong with you.

Hopefully, otherwise that kid is fucked up.

I think hes screwed up even if there was stuff leadind up to it.
I mean, what could he do to his brother to get stabbed?
Eat his dog? murder his family? (ie himself) burn down his hometown? Shoot the president while riding on his brother's jetpack-wearing girlfriends corpse while singing justin bieber?

Is there a whole history behind the two brothers? No matter what, I cannot see justifying the act of murdering one's brother, but I would kind of like to understand why it would even get to that point where a weapon would be drawn and used.

Was the brother tomenting his younder brother? Was the older one abusive? Was the PS3 thing just one thing too many? I really don't know, but I would like to try to understand how someone could do something like that, because I love my family no matter how bad things get and I cannot see murder as an option.

I think the other story was even more vicious, the boy who sledge hammered his Dad to death for taking away his keyboard.

i was disgusted with the fact that someone would kill over such a thing. but to add insult to injury there's several comments on that page by retarded anti-video game nazis. i cant believe i was proud for a moment that msn didnt scew the whole thing into a "violent games are bad" bullshit, but those who commented did it for them. for all we know they were playing the sims or little big planet. not like i'm gonna convert anyone HERE but hell GTA didnt get up and get a knife, God of War didnt fill him with fratricidal rage, and little big planet didnt goad him into it.

I agree with the pervy-sage ;)
I think the reason why the sentence would be so low is the fact that he is probably a minor, which is usually under 18, though some times younger people have been charged as adults due to the severity of the act.

It is a debated issue on whether or not you should try minors as adults. Some people so no because as a kid you may not realize the full consequence of the action. Still, I think if you can decide to pick up a knife and you stabbed a person in response to something they did, I pretty sure you were aware of what you were doing.

I agree with you guys that he should probably have a longer sentence. If he had this outburst of violence that resulted in a death once, it probably would happen again in five years. Better to keep him away from people he could hurt. I am unsure of my thoughts on where he should go though. Do you think he should go to prision, or some sort of asylum.
