'top 10 most dissopointing games of 2010' :
http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/113/1136938p1.html

They put GT5 which they gave 8.5 and my love object Fable 3 which they also gave 8.5 >:/ and alan wake which i thought was a great game.

Almost all the games on this list they gave positive reviews.they said without a doubt FFXII is the most dissopointing game of 2010 but they gave it a 8.9 which is a higher rating than all the other stuff on the list they didnt even put SWTFU2 on it

I actually agree with every single one of their choices, so I'm not seeing any ignorance here. Reviews and "Top 10s" are ALWAYS opinions, not fact.

Does this really surprise anyone? There is a reason no one trusts IGN anymore.

Pretty much this. If IGN found them disappointing, then that's their opinion. I disagree with a chunk of their list, but, hey, who cares?

Agreed with JeanLuc761. People seem to mix fact and opinion with regards to games and game reviews all too often. In many cases people have attacked others for having a differing opinion than their own, or worse, a reviewer gets attacked for doing their job and informing the public of their experience with a given game. It's why too many sites softball these things, to appease to many people (I won't name names, but I have, on another site, been very verbal about this in the past), when a honest opinion would be more than welcome over someone saying right off hand that a game is just as awesome as everyone thinks it will be.

In the strictest sense, I'd love it if reviewers were less fearful of negative reactions to any form of critique from publishers and gamers alike. It would help me better gauge my purchases and I'd take reviewers more seriously if they weren't afraid to praise innovation and slam pandering and rehashing.

I'll stop before I get all ranty in here.

Apart from when game companies pay/give gifts to review sites and take part in unwritten agreements

Most dissappointing- the ones that had the most potential and hype, but don't live up to it. Not worst.

Disappointing does not equal bad.

Not only that, IGN aren't staffed by robots who all think alike and review alike. Most likely, this list was put together through consultation with multiple staff members, but the individual reviews were carried out by individual staff members (after all, not all of them can play the same game for review).

I agree with most of the choices on that list, especially FFXIII.

Once again, Disappointing does NOT equal BAD. It just means that it failed to be all they could be, to live up to expectations. Again, you might disagree with what is on this list. No one is going to ever create a list that everyone would agree to.

Im going to g ahead and say that I rather like IGN as a whole. While I don't always agree with all of there articles/reviews they always make a valid case. I personally agree with this article 100%

disagree with some of their list, loved Lost Planet 2 a lot, played about 40 hours into it, even wrote a review of it.

Disappointing does not mean bad, however IGN fails for thinking GT5 is a let down.

Also keep in mind IGN Australia wrote that article, they might have scored the games differently.

Goodness forbid that they have their own opinions. A gaming review site/magazine is made up of people not some giant machine that has a magic formula for reviewing gaming. People are not always going to agree with you.

Alan Wake was disappointing. Dumbed down graphics? Decision to not release it on PC? Pretty mediocre story? Samey combat? Alan Wake was meant to be a "visually stunning epic thriller". In the end all it got to was "visually okay thriller". Bad? No not really. Disappointing? Yeah I'd say so.
