TF2 graphics and classes + Mirror's Edge style free-running + call of duty gun-play and unlocks + customization options out the ass = tons of hype.

The only problem I have with this game is that it's a multiplayer only game that costs $60. Seriously? No, any game that is exclusively focused on multiplayer should instantly be discounted to at least $40.

No it's not. You can play any of the modes, including the campaign, singleplayer or multiplayer.
The campaign is just all of the multiplayer maps, but played in order and with bots. THAT'S NOT SINGLE PLAYER, it's multiplayer with bots.

It's a parkour objective-based shooter of the kind that Splash Damage is known for. How can there not be a lot of buzz about it?

You can get it way cheaper from D2D, I think. And it's still steam activated, worth a look.

You can't forget parkour!
After playing Mirror's Edge a few months ago every single fps I played afterwards I attempted to run up walls and climb pipes.... I suppose you could say it did not go over well...

But really, now that I've had a taste of parkour in video games I feel depraved not having more games around offering it. That along side the customization is what really intrigues me about Brink.

There's runnin' and shootin' and 'splodies and deaths and such?!
It must be a TF2 knock-off!!

Can't say I see the comparison between Brink and TF2. Last time I checked TF2 was nothing more than a class based online only FPS; A kiddy counterstrike with roles.

I mean really does nobody who makes that comparison notice that the only similarities are "Similar art style - Class based - FPS"? Class based games aren't new, cell shading isn't new, FPS's aren't new.

Does TF2 have multi-objective based gameplay? No.
Is there a huge customization option in Tf2? Characters? No. Guns? No.
Is there a free-running element in TF2? No.
Is there a story in Tf2? Not particularly. And what little there is? All of it occurs outside of the gameplay.

People are looking forward to this game because it has some interesting mechanics and, though it is a multiplayer FPS, its geared towards teamwork rather than being a lone wolf or camper.
this. when people make these odd comparisons i have to facepalm as to why..why in the hell are they thinking in such a manner.

why do people insist on making claims in the form of hipsters and can't seem to see the simple logic involved..i probably wont get brink but it's quite easy to see why people would go for it.

Really though, is there any reason to point the copy-cat finger at every FPS that comes onto the market?
It seems with just about every release somebody must speak up with the claim that "it's all been done before..."
Just because a game may be similar to another does not (at all) make it a clone/knock-off/copy-cat/[what have you].

Maybe Amazon can do me some justice...

To me, it seems like a mix of Mirrors edge, Team Fortress 2, and Battlefield but all wrapped up for the console user. Im excited for it, pre-ordered it quite a bit ago, and hopefully it comes out as good as I hope it to be. In that case, it turely deserves its justified resergance in interest lately

TF2 didn't invent classes or cel-shading and last I checked, Splash Damage did Wolfenstein ET before TF2 even existed, but hey... they're just ripping off Valve, right? Yeah, no...

It looks like a fun little game with lots of customisation and free-running... which is what I would've liked in CoD, really, so as to make camping harder.

I think it just appeals to a lot of people.
Me being one of those people. I'm glad there's someone here talking sense. It was the free-running aspect that interested me, and when I played it last year even in it's unfinished state it looked like a lot of fun.

It's all very interesting, and god willing this game will hopefully get people to work together. "The hell is everyone doing? Why aren't you moving the payload??".
