Can't say I see the comparison between Brink and TF2. Last time I checked TF2 was nothing more than a class based online only FPS; A kiddy counterstrike with roles.

I mean really does nobody who makes that comparison notice that the only similarities are "Similar art style - Class based - FPS"? Class based games aren't new, cell shading isn't new, FPS's aren't new.

Does TF2 have multi-objective based gameplay? No.
Is there a huge customization option in Tf2? Characters? No. Guns? No.
Is there a free-running element in TF2? No.
Is there a story in Tf2? Not particularly. And what little there is? All of it occurs outside of the gameplay.

People are looking forward to this game because it has some interesting mechanics and, though it is a multiplayer FPS, its geared towards teamwork rather than being a lone wolf or camper.
This this and more this.

TF2 doesnt own class based combat. The art, movement, and gameplay are different. Claims of "TF2 clone" are uninformed.

I would ask the same question about TF2.

I'm not trolling. I have NEVER understood the popularity of that game and this is coming from someone who loves pretty much all multilayer games.

'Cause it looks pretty cool.
Lots of customization, Mirror's Edge kinda acrobatics, etc

I think it's cool, but I'm not typically the kind of gamer who plays fast and vulnerable (Seemingly the core concept of the game's fast-paced action.

tf2 was a fail on the console its time for a good clone/ripoff/copy cat of TF2 for consoles. YA I SAID CLONE/RIPOFF because it is tf (the original mod) was, to my knolage, the first class based online multiplayer fps. And i have seen game play its just TF2 in borderlands thats about it. I think it will work! I think it will sell! And the mechanics look good. I will not buy it because I love my tf2 and its probubly going to be a console port. (just my guess but the mechanics are console based)

One thing is that suposedly the AI bots are so intelligent that veteran gamers have a hard time telling the bots from good players. I say supposedly since that seems hard to believe to me. I still might get it though since it looks like fun and I was a fan of Quake Wars (same developer). Gonna wait for the reviews though, but will preorder for the bonus stuff.

I'm just curious as to how Brink became so popular. I really am not trying to bash the game; I hardly know anything about it. It just seems that the last time I looked at it, it appeared to be a simplistic TF2 knockoff without any unique features or distinguishing aspects. I've tried a few cursory searches to find anything that would dispute that assumption, but have had no luck. What is there about it that I don't know that seems to have people so hyped about it? I may be interested in getting it if you can explain why it's worth it to me.

EDIT: OH MY GOD, people! I wasn't calling it a TF2 knockoff. I was saying that, based on my ignorant viewpoint, it looked like one. I was asking you to enlighten me. And yes, while I know that not every class-based shooter is a TF2 ripoff, not by a longshot, there have been games nearly identical to it that have come out before- Toy Wars, Lead and Gold, and Global Agenda (Hell, these guys even admitted to being essentially a TF2 MMO). Lay off me.
? what with this "I dont get why people like somthing?"..thing?

anyway I am very anit-multiplayer however this acutally looks like an interesting way of doing the whole "multiplayer" thing rahter than "lets tack multiplayer onto a game that doesnt need it" or even worse "ok weve got multiplayer now jsut add a few hours and we are good"

also the story and setting look interesting

TF2 graphics and classes + Mirror's Edge style free-running + call of duty gun-play and unlocks + customization options out the ass = tons of hype.

The only problem I have with this game is that it's a multiplayer only game that costs $60. Seriously? No, any game that is exclusively focused on multiplayer should instantly be discounted to at least $40.
No it's not. You can play any of the modes, including the campaign, singleplayer or multiplayer.
The campaign is just all of the multiplayer maps, but played in order and with bots. THAT'S NOT SINGLE PLAYER, it's multiplayer with bots.
And what is any singleplayer campaign other than a bunch of maps in order with bots? Add in a few cutscenes (which Brink also has), and there you go. The ability to play the campaign against actual players is an addition to the game, not something missing.
Well then apparently Gears of War doesn't need a campaign at all, since you can play the multiplayer maps with bots in them. We should probably let Epic know that they can stop wasting their resources on making an actual campaign mode.

Well it is basically a TF2 clone with FREE customization and full console support...so that's probably why.
It still looks uninteresting to me, though.
TF2 doesn't have free customization? Strange all these free things in my backpack...

Brink looks to be an intriguing, if utterly unoriginal shooter. It could turn out to be quite a good game, but for now it seems that most of what it has going for it is viral spam.

Based on what I'm seeing, it's because it's a TF2 clone except you're less likely to be caught on a doorframe and the constant updates won't screw it up more than they fix it.

But that's just what my friend and I are seeing.
