Security. I just went and looked them up and security as Awesome helmets and uniforms.... I'm a sucker for a good helmet and uniforms!
I don't know the exact reason they're trying to stop the resistance other than the "stopping them from wrecking shit" one but it's not as black/white as it appears. I do remember watching one of the Dev. diaries were the writer explains that the story isn't your typical "freedom-fighting underdogs vs. evil, oppressive government forces", both sides think they both have justifiable reasons to do what they are doing. I guess we'll find out more in 4 days. can't wait!GrizzlerBorno said:And is there a perfectly good, informed reason for the Security to keep them from doing so? If not, this debate loses a lot of value because it turns into a one-sided argument instead of an interesting moral Dichotomy.Packie_J said:Well, I wouldn't exactly call it pointless. From what I understand, They're just trying to get in contact with the outside world because the "Ark" is running out of resources and the Security are struggling to maintain peace on the island.GrizzlerBorno said:I don't think I'll be getting the game (too MP centric), but if you are trying to gauge people's philosophical leanings from their chosen side, then I go with "Security".
I don't know the details of the story yet, but the other guys seem to be portrayed as "Anarchists" by a different name. I value Forced Stability over pointless Freedom.

From what I read, the Ark government has been dishing out reduced rations to feed 50,000 people when it was only really suppose to hold 5,000. The Resistance want to take over the government and hand out rations the way they think it should be done because they're not buying the "We only have enough resources to last us X amount of time." argument that the government is using.GrizzlerBorno said:And is there a perfectly good, informed reason for the Security to keep them from doing so? ...Or, people could choose one side over the other because of idealogical similarities. Have you failed to notice how many people say that they want to join the Resistance because they lean more towards anarchy whereas some of the people that want to be Security want to joing them because of their leanings towards order?Conn1496 said:Oh come on, this is just another Alliance or Horde situation. We all know that the very second one side does better everyone sprouts wool and starts "Bahh"ing at everyone, then moves there like they're being led by an unseen force. You might as well have asked, "which side do you think will be better?".
No, I just realised that most of the gaming industry is out to take your money, so as soon as they bring out the faction change option, we all know everyone will migrate instantly to the better side because no-one likes losing... If you haven't played WoW, you probably don't understand how whiny some people are. Now I'm sure some people mean their reasons legitimately, but we all know the very second that one side gets the "Golden skull headband +5" that makes your character look 200% cooler, most people will jump sides faster than Bill Gates can blow half of is money on that next new thing for Microsoft to spew onto our faces. Because the cooler looking side wins.MasterOfWorlds said:...Or, people could choose one side over the other because of idealogical similarities.
