do you mean you'd prefer to be called by your specific nationality, or that you want people to stop calling all british people english?

I know my history just that one I just couldn't remember plus Britain has thousands and thousands of years of history.
I know you know- I was just tastelessly poking fun.

Well, part of me felt triumphant that a European had a momentary memory lapse, since so many of the Escapist's European populace loves to rub America's perceived lack of education in its face. But you weren't doing that, so I have no reason to be triumphant.

But yeah.

Sorry about singling you out.

In Britain, and the UK, there's a level of patriotism to that specific chunk.

British =/= English,
English = British.

But it's always appreciated to be alknowledged to your country.

Personally, I'm Scottish.
British =/= Scottish,
Scotland = British.

I'm Australian. I also have in me English, Irish, Scottish and....wait for it...Polynesian. But I prefer being a wranger because not many people can be and I guess I feel slightly special because of it. But I still get asked if I'm English -_-

I'm Scottish, but I've lived in England for pretty much all my life. Still define myself as Scottish, or British...but it bugs the hell out of me when someone calls me English...

There are a fair few of us on here, you just don't immediately recognise them.

Well I suppose it depends on whether or not you believe Ireland should be independent of the UK or not.]

As for me, I'm half Scottish and half English. But I just say I'm English.
