well sense London is like 66.3 mi from where i live i hear a lot of Brits on Halo3 and not all of them are bad. but there was this one nutter who thought he was Sean Connery (im not sure if i spelt his name right) but after like an hour of arguing i told him to take that voice changing thing off so i could hear his real voice. he was like 8 years and he was British, he wasn't even Scottish.
You realize Scotland is part of Britain right? You mean: "He was English"?
i don't like the idea of other country's ruling other country's. so when i speak of Scotland and Wales i speak as they are their own country's. so in my mind Scots are not British.
They have their own Parliament and control everything on their country except for the taxes. Wales is similar. Heck, even the PM is Scottish now. Basically they might as well be independent. The Scottish Nationalists (and Sean Connery) hope for independence by 2012.
well i hope that Ulster,Scotland, and Wales will be independent by When Ever The Queen Gets A heart.
This is an interesting discussion in its own right, but perhaps a new thread for it?
what would you call this new and highly controversial thread?
Is devolution within the British Parliament a good thing? That pretty much sums it up.

As a neutral Irishman I would say that in my experience British gamers have a much higher ratio of polite, friendly gamers than our friends in the States do.

British gamers also seem to do less of the wierd stuff in the lobby like making funny noises and drones, playing hip hop into thier mics, insulting peoples' ethnicity or any of the other forms of psychological bullying that you hear from so many American kids.

But there are arseholes in every country... and Live is plagued with them. As long as you can learn to either block them out or laugh at them then you'll be ok, and we often have fun online with plenty of polite and friendly Paddy's, Brits and Yankees alike...

As a scottish gamer i generaly get one hundred tons of faux/real sympathy (only seperable by fine cheesecloth and a flamethrower) for being tied to england... which is weird really since they just make us look better :p

Seriously though it seems that the resulting Brit hating and hate-ees are one and the same... Ill educated children who'd parents dont give a rats testicle about their child being an ignorant by blow of a leperous chunk of faecal matter.

I forgot to mention...

I once did have a British kid tell me online that our country was gay and inferior and that we should respect England and the queen because we wouldn't even have a country if they hadn't given us one.

It was like Captain Planet Saves Belfast (if you havent seen this masterpiece, here you go... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQJrovKgrTw ) ...so ludicrously offensive and hilarious that you just couldn't be offended by it.

I give everyone the benfiet of the doubt until they piss me off. I won't care if they fuck up once or twice but if they fuck up many times and then start shit with me I will fight back. Of course the best they have to throw at me is usally jokes about my mother or jokes about my name. (So I spelt dog dawg. So what the actual name was taken so I changed it a bit) In which a I throw big words at them and watch as the die of confusion.

what Max has said, fucktard until proven otherwise. generally when i hear someone British on my mic i go, oh fuck here it comes, i have only had one experience with a Brit that i didn't want to shoot myself, all other times they try to call me a "racist fat hick" ETC, based on the fact that i have a slight southern draw. I DO NOT hate anyone based on the color of their skin, i DO NOT hate anyone based on their religion. And yeah so what if i live in the country? yeah i have a shitload of guns and tools and booze. It doesn't mean people have to start shit with me based on my accent.

EDIT: appears we have scotts in our midst. Hello, I am Iain McGrew, i hail from Scotland and my ancestors are from their my family tree links straight to the great MCGREGOR clan so i say

I <3 SCOTLAND

What kind of retard puts corks on their hate honestly?!
I always make sure to cork my hate!! ;-p

Anyway... I say it doesn't really matter what nationality you are you find idiots everywhere. But that's what the almighty mute button is for!

I personally have had pretty good experiences, though I must admit back before I sold my xbox 360 I did find XBL to be pretty full of idiots! At the moment I play TF2 on the PC and find that it's pretty good and the servers I play in anyone who makes a your mum gets a swift kick vote!

I disagree with the moto fucktard until proven otherwise but that's not the point I'm making about this post.

You say that you hate it when people judge you on your southern draw however when you hear a British accent you make a snap decision? Seems a little like double standards to me...

I'm British and I think I've only ever argued with someone once and it was a russian who said I was lagging when he had terrible ping and I had green bars. So I didn't even start the arguement, I know loads of other british Gamers and generall most of the ones I'vemet just get on with everyone.

American players can scare me a lot more than the British. At least they've got their sexy voices when they insult you.

Seriously: it doesn't matter who insults me online, the ones who never got an education in general behaviour gets mute and blocked. Doesn't matter which gender or where they are playing.

I seem to have more problems with English people rather than Americans which I find odd but then again I am Scottish...

In my experience as a Canadian who plays a lot of online games, the British (and Australians... it can be hard to determine between the two accents sometimes) are typically friendlier folks than Americans or other Canadians are.

Maybe I've just been lucky in avoiding the more obnoxious ones.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't run into too many people that talk trash on XBL (yet). Probably because I play late at night when there aren't any kids on. As far as British people go, I have only run into a few of them. One was a young kid and he was talking shit, but the rest didn't.

In my experience it's more of a problem of age than of nationality: "kids" tend to swear more and behave worse (and have annoyingly high-pitched voices). If I'd have to choose an anglophone group that bugs me above the average, I'd say Americans.
I get fed up with my fellow Italians too, but except for the real a**holes (fascist clans in WoW and FPSs are a good example) they don't shame me much: the only thing that usually embarasses me is that 90% of the Italian gamers don't speak English, or speak it horribly.

Ta-Da. There fore, it is societies fault that we act stupid on videogames.

Lol! I love the idea that someone has mistaken the meaning of tea time! "Dude I have to go, it's tea time." - goes off, joins the family at the table and sits there in silence while they drink tea.

Though tea is so awesome that it probably should have its own alloted time. Tea time = dinner/supper.

God knows how the English got associated with monocles. Although they too are awesome.

And FallenJellyDoughnut, I thought Australian's wore corks on their hats in the outback to keep the flies away? Makes sense to me. And if you actually did catch your food using a boomarang...well, that would be f***ing sweet.
