http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100124/tuk-mcdonald-s-pounded-over-bob-menu-adv-45dbed5.html

In proper English, a 'bob' is a slang word for a shilling of 5 pence piece but in a Mcdonalds commercial, refers to it as a pound which is not strictly un true, as it was then used for pound when the decimal system was introduced. This complaining for the sake of complaining at it's max.

research has shown it is now more commonly used as slang for a pound or money in general
Nope, that's a quid. McDonald's, you fail again. Oh, and legally this time. I'd like my hamburger for 5p please, as you are advertising it.

May somebody translate that into American currency for my small brain to comprehend?
Imagine the pound as a dollar and 5p as 5 cents now imagine, some one called the 5 cents green or another american currency slang word.

5p is about 7-8 cents. A pound is about $1.60. It was about $2.00 to the £ for a while, before our economy followed yours down the sewer.

I remember bob being used as slang for multiple pounds, as in ten bob, but not for a single pound.

As if old people even go to Mackky Dees in the first place. I'm sure so, so many people have faced the embarrassment of having their shillings and ha-pennys rejected this week.

The one reason to go to macca's here in AU. Free 50MBs of download that can be used while on the go to check up some things online. Or to kill time when i am bored and many, many kilometres from home.

OT- Wow.. I hear about 'quid' being used as the term for pound more often than the other one. So really, how can they not pick that up themselves?
