Eat your heart out Hutch, Optic and T-Squared.... this is a real pro-sniper.

Found this little news article which I thought I would share with you guys:

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/international/sniper_kills_qaeda_from_mi_away_sTm0xFUmJNal3HgWlmEgRL#ixzz0nXUaKZbo

Basically, a British sniper downed two AL Qaeda insurgents from 8,120 feet, so far away they apparently wouldn't have even heard the shots being fired.

This is apparently the longest ever distance recorded for a sniper kill.

I doubt he got a hit marker...

Now I don't know anything about sniping but my guess is that this was an extreme feat of skill, any gun owners care to explain exactly how difficult this must have been and what was involved in hitting someone from that far?

And I have been told by a buddy that at that distance with a 50 Cal bullet, due to the air it pushes up it wouldn't even have to hit you to kill you, is this true?

Hitting the targets from that distance is quite a feat, of course made easier with technology but still very difficult due to the Coriolis effect, wind direction, and other such. As for the 50 Cal round, it depends on a lot of factors but I believe you'd be pretty dead if it came anywhere near you.

See it doesn't matter if it is a head shot or not. As long as you hit the target.

On Topic: That was well done.

I'm pretty sure this was posted already, but yes, it is one hell of an achievement I suppose.

Pretty god damn amazing. The second terrorist must be quite stupid. If i saw my friend get shot without even hearing or seeing where it came from i wouldnt get straight up and stand where he just was.

Skill is required that's not up for discussion,

However,

1) Technology is available
-so this is really not that impressive-
2) No visible muzzle flash
3) No shot sound
-Will allow plenty of trial and error shots-

i mean kudos to the shooter, but that doesn't make him the best sniper.

He was using an aimbot!

OT: Never get into a sniping match with a British soldier, you will loose!

Whats all this technology everyones talking about? Unless you just mean its a very big gun with a very powerfull scope thats about as far as it goes. He's able to make shots through maths and estimations which have existed for a very long time and dont count as technology

Im not an expert on the matter i'll admit but im quite good at physics and if you look at the variables that the first post listed i doubt technology can take into account all those things before a shot has been fired?
Also once a bullets in the air any number of things can happen to it. Its an amazing display of sniping and training

The shockwave from a .50cal can rip your arm off, or even kill you. Dunno about that range, as the round would have been slowed down a fair bit.

knocked out the Canadian's record by just under 200ft. Good on ya.

So the standings are:
First = Britain
Second = Canada
Third = USA?

That's pretty insane.

And he should have done a 360 spin before firing.
