Cheese and spinach pie.
I'd never heard of this so I looked it up. Do you use egg in yours so it's more of a quiche or is it more heavily cheese based? Either way, I think I'll have an experiment in the kitchen tomorrow night!
I do it Greek style. Feta cheese and spinach wrapped in filo pastry (i.e. flour and water) and just one egg. Then medium fried in olive oil.

But I'm sure there are other ways to go about it. A Quiche-esque version sounds pretty good.

...

Now I'm hungry.

Dude, beef ramen is the shit man. I eat that even if I'm not in a financial stint.

As for fast food, there is anything cheaper (or more filling) than Taco Bell.

Taco Bell really is the food of Epic Win... even in Canada where our fast food is ridiculously over priced compared to our American brothers, (except for Popeyes.. that shit's expensive everywhere) Taco Bell can provide a full fledged filling feed for five bucks. (heh alliteration)

Just a quick question:

How much do you spend for food in a week? Around my college, there are a lot of side-street mini-"carinderias" (small food places). One in particular served dinosaur chicken (as in a fucking ass-huge piece of chicken) and a cup of rice with free soup for 1 dollar, give or take. Extra rice costs less than 20 cents (same goes with the soft drinks/soda/juice/iced tea. If you spent more than 2 dollars per meal you'll be feeling bloated). That's the average price per meal, and you're spoiled for choice. There must be a hundred food establishments around there (from snacks to full meals).

*Prices are an estimated conversion to the US dollar.
Where do you live? That dinosaur chicken sounds awesome!! Bet ya it would be even better with Franks Red Hot :)

Back on topic: What are other quick foods you eat in the middle of a gaming session... and not just like chips or a quick snack, but when you desperately need to eat a meal... what would you throw together to feed the need without being AFK for too long?

Random tomato/cheese based Hamburger Helper... toss in some spiced stewed tomatoes, maybe saute some zucchini/squash slices. Enough food for more than a few meals, unless you have roomies that will wipe you out.

Kraft M&C got me through at least a year. Just kept some beef, cans of tuna, hotdogs, extra shredded cheese, and a big-*ss jug of Mr. Yoshi's Gourmet Sauce (sake-based marinade sauce to cook the beef or hotdogs in) around to change it up a bit. One day Gourmet Sauced Beef... another with Tuna & Cheese... then hotdogs... Just mix-n-match, and good for a week of food, easy. (Just don't do Tuna & Yoshi's... yech)

Good idea! Nothing like M&C classic, and adding all sorts of things to spice it up. I've added chicken and shredded cheese... baked it all together for a gooey heaven of awesome. Like I mentioned before though... watch your leftovers, less they become green and angry!

Chilli sauce. That is the foundation of any college diet. I used to live on rice, boiled vegetables and chilli sauce. Occasionally some grated cheese, if I could afford it.
Also fruit. A lot of apples, bananas and raisins. Managed to get by on less than 20 euro a week most of the time.

Meat and cheese are a huge drain on finances. Same goes for pizzas and so forth. It pays to be able to cook.

I recently perfected what I call Man Salad. Take a cup of white rice, a couple of sliced carrots or vegetables of some sort, cook 'em in water on medium heat until the rice is all puffy and the carrots are soft. Then throw in a fair amount of some kind of meat--beef pepperoni is the best because it's tasty. (Make sure it's already cooked unless you want to deal with that too) Then top with the garnish of your choice--mustard and soy sauce together are the best. Mix it all together and eat warm. It all takes about twenty minutes, tops. It is massively delicious and not entirely without nutritional value.

Its not hard to eat healthily as a student, you've just gotta get creative and not mind odd combos

The Philippines.

Also, you don't game when it's eating time. It leaves nasty stains.

This is not really a quick snack but the pay off is big and it is quick to do, and you need a slow cooker.
Fry up mines with some onion mushrooms and what ever you want really, throw in slow cooker add tin tomartos, add anything you want beans, more tomatoes, ketchup, pineapple random thing not sure what it is.
Leave for day when you come back from college you got a chilli of sorts, tuck in when you are ready it will last you a while :)

I would love to live in the Phillipines.. lol what Syntax Error described would probably cost 16 bucks here... if it was from a fast food place... then maybe 12... either way, awesome.

And everyone hates crumbs in the keyboard, grease on the controller etc... but sometimes you do what you gotta do.

The slow-cooker is the manliest cooking appliance of all. To hell with barbecues and foreman grills.. you put your meal in, let it cook all day quite lazily and then feast.

to all these people that cook their preferred quick meals i applaude you!

me on the other hand, if im hungry i can never be bothered to cook, just throw some ham, barbecue sauce and crisps in some bread and chow down
