My friends would understand, and if I get into a relationship it would most likely be the only one I ever do, so I would try and make it last.

If you're dating someone and you honestly consider ditching them on their birthday, no matter how much you want to see that concert or whatever, that relationship is unlikely to last very long. If I like a girl enough to actually date her, she tend to come first as long as it doesn't derail prior plans with friends or completely cut me off from them. My friends will always be there for me. Relationships require more work.
Thanks, you saved me to trouble of having to word this. I agree entirely with this.

Depends on what kind of friends you have. If they're more like buddied then I say go for the girl(s).
In my case I have cool, loving friends how are willing to sacrifice their GF's for me, so I think it's obvious I'd do the same for them.

A mate will insist on Bros before Hos.
A friend will let you get the Hos then make it up to your Bros.
A good friend will take you out with the Bros and some Hos, with the specific aim of helping you get with your desired Ho.

So it depends who your "Bro" is at that point.

Friends are more important
True close friends will be friends for life
Relationships can end in a heart beat

In my opinion it's just a matter of knowing where you loyalties lie

Prior plans top both. So if it is with your Bros, they come first, if it was with your girl(or guy) then she(or he) comes first. When you have the option I find that makeing your girl(or guy) friends with your friends helps because then you can hang with both. Other wise chose what you would enjoy most. But makesure you split your time evenly between the two other wise your going to lose one or the other.

My romantic interest IS one of my friends. If I am forced to choose between the two, I generally side with the girlfriend. After all, most of my friends are married and ought to understand.

Balance is key. Go with whoever has the most unique offer (For example, a big concert can be a one-time thing, whereas you'll hopefully be able to attend your partner's birthday next year!), then make it up to the other party later.

Listen to House. He knows what he's talking about.

But really, since all my friends were girls, I can't really say that :p

I think the saying more implies 'friends before hookups' which I am completely on-board with.

Does it count if me and a friend were fighting over the same girl? in the longrun though i gave up on her so i didnt lose my bestfriend and then they broke up after 2 weeks.
the moral of the story is Friends are Forever.
Girls come and go.

I pick logic and rationality. I don't stick to either for any arbitrary reason, or because I think one is more valuable or better than the other.
