maybe beacuse the game is set around like 80s metal rather than newer metal.
You're kidding, right?
Metallica is from the 80's! Just because they have new albums(Even though their older stuff was good) doesn't mean that they are newer.
Same goes for AC/DC, I'm still a hardcore fan. Just not of the new stuff.
Yes, this ^ exactly. They went downhill after Cliff died.
Yepp, the Metallica I like died with Cliff.
Cliff Richards?

for me, it lacked some 60's-70's rock. I KNOW, I KNOW! it's METAL, but still... Some Zeppelin, Doors, Pink Floyd ETC. cant hurt a game... :p

They're not in it because Metallica is not TRVE, GRIM and FROSTBITTEN enough. Seriously, when I scroll through the song list, I almost believe what I just wrote.^^

If Thor had his way, the entire game would be Manowar. And it wouldn't be a game, it would just be static images with looped Manowar albums. And you wouldn't be able to turn off the console or lower the volume.
But you would be able to TURN IT UP HAIL FROM NORTH AMERICA!

I don't think Metallica would have fit at all. They're the face of modern metal. Debates over wether or not they suck or not (I still havn't forgiven them for Napster), they simply didn't liscence their music probably.

Besides, this game had Brocas Helm, fuck Metallica man.

They are too awesome, like avenged sevenfold, so they're saving it for a sequel to cash in money into the franchise.
This is Double Fine we're talking about here, they'd never do that. The only thing I can see is DLC.

This, thank you.

Yes, or what I like to call, GOOD metal. Damnit, I even like Dr. Feelgood more than Metallica (well, that's because Motley Crue are so cheesy it's fantastic)

EDIT: Does anyone know where to find the Tenacious D music relics?

So, is no one going to say it? Fine, I will.

METALLICA SUCKS.

There, I said it. It's out in the open. Now let's deal with this like adults.

Metallica was a great band, for a time. However, I have two distinct reasons that put it lower on my list than Dragonforce (*Minor Spoilers* Who as far as I'm concerned only got in because they have one song that is good to run away from what is basically the apocalypse to.*Minor Spoilers Ended)

1. They WERE good. Now, they've just gone downhill, with the culmination of selling out in the form of a guitar hero game. To be IN a Guitar Hero game? That's an honor, good for you. To have your OWN Guitar Hero game? Stupid.

2. If they had never existed, Avril Lavigne would never have tried to sing Fuel. That *****.
I stopped liking Metallica about the time they got their panties in a bunch about Napster and were complaining that they were only making X million dollars that year because of Napster.

When you ***** about ONLY making millions of dollars doing something YOU LIKE TO DO...it is over for me and you :p.

I don't mind complaining about people getting your shit for free...but whining your mansion won't get a pool full of champagne this year is just retarded.

That fact that we're even having this conversation is probably why they weren't included.
And the Ultrajoe prize for common sense and shrewd observation goes to this chap.

Beside the fact that including Metallica would have sparked a holy crapstorm of argument and complaint, Metallica doesn't fit the feel and scope of the Brutal Universe. Sure, some of the songs might have been fun and sorta fit, but when riding a hotrod between giant stone swords or jumping atop a Metal Beast and unleashing flaming death... You just really need some Manowar.

Given the attitudes of Eddie to the tweeny band at the start and his sentiment that Metal is Pure, including Metallica, a band that has changed with the times, would rub in the face of the nostalgic goofiness of the game.

I'm a huge 'Tallica fan, even the new stuff... but I don't want to see it in my Brutal Legend. ... Well, maybe MoP.

Honestly, Metallica are kind of dicks about copyright. They didn't appear in Guitar Hero forever, and they were the first band to actually give a shit about Napstar. Seriously, if you want someone to blame for no legal free music today, blame them. They are a good band, but are huge dicks about copyright.

Because all true metal fans know that Metallica is now a joke. Anyone who sues their fans for obtaining music without cost is just a poser. Also probably becaue they wanted too much money to be featured into a game.

Yeah, I seriously don't understand why they didn't squeeze one or two Metallica tracks into the game. Dragonforce though... were they serious when they put that fucking shit in the game?
