I feel like it's the kind of game that trys to appeal to the wannabe. You know, the kind of person who listens to Guns 'n Roses, and uses 'awesome' as a sort of all purpose adjective. The person that thinks that they might possibly start playing guitar, maybe, in the future, (so long as it's not to difficult anyway) but still considers themself an expert on the subject. Y'know, the person next to the stage at a concert wearing a slogan t-shirt. Yeah, a t-shirt wearer.
I kind of associate Brutal Legend with that kind of thing mainly cos of my friend, who shall remain nameless.
"It's like a dream world."
"I wish I was like the people in this game!"
"Isn't Ozzy Osbourne awesome?!" - This on the day after he bought the game.
Anyway, are my fears justified? Apologies for the rant, I got a bit carried away.
HA, well at least it isn't Sharon! If she had her way she'd have Robert Trujilo come in and re-record all of Lemmy's lines so she wouldn't have to pay him royalties!Artemis923 said:Ewww, Ozzy Osbourne.
Man, I hate going to get upgrades knowing exactly who I have to see to purchase them form.
I'm currently enjoying it for a second time thru, and I'm finding now that I've rushed thru the story and I understand all the controls and know where some of the things are, I'm having the most fun just exploring the world. Yahtzee says there's too many sandbox games out there, but I haven't seen one like this before (except maybe in screenshots of World of Warcraft). I think it's pretty daft how it is short enough to be enjoyed all the way thru during a weekend rental, but is detailed and engaging enough to also warrant owning it. After another week of playing it I'll probably put it away for a long time but I look forward to revisiting it in the future!Rorschach II said:I got the game a few days ago and am playing it right now. Like Schafer's other games, its funny and easy to get to grips with. I bloody love it. It helps that Im a metal head which is the main reason I brought this game. But it also introduced me to alot of Schafer's signature humour and its just a fun game to play all round. The only problem I have with it is that its too short. A game this good needs to be longer, honestly.

I don't see any problem with this as Ozzy the 'crazy uncle of all metal' IS awesome.Jim Grim said:"Isn't Ozzy Osbourne awesome?!" - This on the day after he bought the game.
Jim Grim said:Allow me to clarify. This is the reason why I don't want the game. Is my supposition correct?
I'm not WORRIED. Anyway I'm thinking about the people who like metal for really stupid reasons. Because they think it'll make them look cool.Johnn Johnston said:You're worried that people who like metal will play a game about metal?
I understood where you were coming from, but that one sentence made it all not matter to me. You don't know if the game is focused towards posers(your definition of which could use a little work), so why presuppose this vision upon the game? It was made by Tim Schafer, it's going to be odd and it's real themes and purposes may be hidden below the poser looking surface. Finally, what's wrong with appealing to posers and why can't you have fun with a game even though your not it's target audience? It doesn't make the banter any less funny or the gameplay any less great. Just get over it and play the game before you make assumptions like this. After all, you know what happens when we assume. ASS-U-ME.Jim Grim said:I've never even played it. But there's something about it that really, really puts me off.
I definatly advise rental first. I'm a major proponent for this game, but I understand alot of people might not want to drop 60 on it.Jim Grim said:Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll probably pop out and rent it some time.
No. I'm not saying you should buy it, but at least play the demo or rent it. What you're doing here is a whole lot of judging the book by its cover.Jim Grim said:I've never even played it.
