Who cares, as an x-men fan that WHOLE franchise was crap. Especially how they gayed up Nightcrawler, and always had one huge noticable mistake (like wolverines shirt healing itself, or nightcrawler in the pit before he even teleports there). They were all cornball, badacted garbage and paid no fan care as far as I'm concerned. Those movies are like games based off of movies. If they never make another one, it will be too soon.
Someone's still nursing that boo boo on their tender fanboy spot because the movies didn't turn out exactly how they wanted them.

OT: At least Emma Frost will finally be in, but I always loved X Men 3, I never understood why people think its so bad.
Pretty much because they killed off the best characters at the start of the movie, or simply removed them. Not to mention Jean's habitual reincarnation and subsequent annoyingness.

Okay, okay. Ian Mackellen as Magneto flying on a fucking bridge was awesome. But is that really worth the admission?
Well Jean's rebirth as the Phoenix is a pretty big plot point in the comics, if not one of the biggest.

And after the credits they showed one of their special little clips, and Professor X came back. Sure, Cyclops is still dead but I never really liked him anyway.

A lot of people thought X3 was bad? lol, I didn't even realize that. I thought it was great, but then again I like almost everything.
X3 was pretty bad dude.

I'm confused, less than awesome Superman Returns? I don't remember that movie. I remember the terrific, went twice to see it Superman Returns, you know the one that was better than Xmen 1 and just a little worse than Xmen 2? But that movie was pretty fuckin' awesome as I recall.

Come on, Kevin Spacey and Parker Posey carried that thing. Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth's interaction were more wooden than a piece of plywood, and about as flat. (Saw it twice in theatre as well, once in IMAX)

Agreed that X3 was pretty bad, and still annoyed they couldn't re-sign Alan Cummings for Nightcrawler(I really like his portrayal).

In X3 and Origins, they made the mistake of introducing great characters like Beast and Gambit only to push them aside to run the same angst-ridden regulars into the ground. Storm sad and alienated? Check. Wolverine angry and foggy memory? Quadruple-check.

I don't have high hopes for a new movie, but I'll still end up Netflixing.

Worst sub-title ever.
No Wolverine, little point, Iceman would kick ass but it's Logan that made the trilogy.

They have to reboot the franchise since they had Jean kill most of the important characters.
GOD I hate Xmen 3.
Yeah, I overall enjoyed X-Men 3 but this sort of ruined it for me. I'm not that big of an X-Men fan boy so I could overlook the inconsistencies that the original 2 had, but just randomly killing off or driving away so many important characters was hard to stomach.

This.

Excellent comics lead to high expectations and the movies failed miserably. Seen Wolverine: Origins? Technically in the X-Men series. Note how every single freaking person is bouncing off of walls? Only people like Beast or Weapon XIII (or XII? Been a while since I read them) did that.

They completely dropped Nightcrawler from the third movie, after introducing him in the second which as one of my fav char's, is unacceptable. Even in the movie version of him. And they aren't really going anywhere. The story lurches from one marvel 'verse to the other, then to a whole new one they made. If it was at least focused then it would be better.

But anything that doesn't include decent versions of Gambit, Rogue and Nightcrawler is going to suck.
I agree with your post completely. Nice post.

I dont know, I'm willing to give it a chance. These type of movies are always going to open to fanboyism but i'm sorry, good movies aren't made by what comic characters are in them. If you have a decent director with a good script with talented actors then you will have an awesome movie. Merely having certain characters doesnt mean you are going to have a good movie, if X3 proved anything than this is it. I actually liked X3 but it was noticably poorer with less impact than X2.

Having said that I really hope they bring Mystique back, damn that pissed me off.

I'm hesitant about the possible Cable movie, it could be a ridiculously awesome deconstruction of the nineties badass anti-hero or more likely a crappy action flick. But if its the former and the Deadpool movie is awesome you could combine the two in a sequel for one hell of a movie.

Because... [Sung to the tune of we didn't start the fire.]
1. They killed Cyclops.
2. Killed Jean
3. Too much Wolverine
4. No Kurt
5. Charles died
6. Mystic was de-sexified
7. Rouge was such a pain, her story-line was so lame.
8. Was Angel even in it? Couldn't even see him.
9. Magneto was de-magnetized
10. Bruce Campbell was MULTIPLIED
11. Entire series: completely BASTARDIZED
I expected more.. It was an all right movie, mediocre at best. It was an all right movie, Magneto and the bridge was cool I guess.
12. What about White Queen, fans love her cuz she's mean
13. Deadpool's funny, could've made money
14. God Damit Where was Gambit?
15. IceMan had only one fight
16. The whole movie just kinda bites.

I wasn't a big fan of the last X-men movie, and I've never been especially fond of Prequels.

I think they should just let the X-men franchise sit, and then do a re-launch of it later, learning from what they picked up here.

I see it in a similar light to the "Batman" movies. They did a bunch of them, and all of them were pretty successful but faced a lot of fan criticism in the exact manner they relaunched things. All of them had some good people in them, but in the end they played things out with Arnie as "Mr. Freeze" and knew it was time to give it a break, and then relaunch it again as the current Batman movies which were juggernauts, especially "The Dark Knight".

The current X-men franchise has basically written out a lot of popular characters due to age if nothing else, borked itself by killing off characters like Cyclops, and basically destroyed it's own sequel potential. That is why they are looking to create a prequel it seems which is just "meh" to me.

Of course the annoucement itself means that they don't care much for my point of view. Even if it looks awesome, I'm going to be a bit wary about this one.

Avengers? It's going to suck. X Men movies? Sucked.
Well considering Downey's Tony Stark and Norton's Bruce Banner were both very well played characters, I want to argue with you but I can't. I am worrying a lot about how Thor will turn out. I've heard less then positive things about it. The Captain America movie might actually be good though. Not sure. The Avenger's movie will be good as long as Cap and Thor have great actors for them, it's well presented which I suspect it will be; might fall to over hype syndrome though(see Spiderman 3), and it has to have Wasp and Antman in it. At least as fucking cameos cuz they were original characters.

Of course none of this opinion sharing really matters because even the worst movies can still have fans. Ed Wood movies were probably really bad (never saw one) but they have a cult following and I mean hey, look at the Twilight franchise.

The X-men movies are nothing but a vague blur to me. I need to re-watch them. lol
