Pick 5 people you would adventure with if you were the protagonist in an RPG. They can be any 5 people from across all RPGs whether PC or Console. Explain why if you want and maybe what your RPG's direction will be.

My five:

1. HK-47 from KotOR (because I need someone to keep the other meatbags in line)
2. Garrus from ME2 (after he got his scar)
3. Cid Highwind from FF7 (I'm gonna need an airship, and he can build me one and also has access to Phoenix Down so I won't die from dumb crap)
4. Magus from Chrono Trigger
5. Deadpool from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (because its Deadpool, he can break the 4th wall and metagame for me if I need a strategy guide later on!)

I have no idea about the progression though, or what kind of story it would be. IF this thread takes off I might invest more into the storyline/prologue tho...

EDIT:

2nd party

1. Black Mage (from 8-Bit Theater, not FF1)
2. Thief (Also from 8-Bit Theater except that I'd NEVER sign a contract with him, nor allow anyone to sign my name for me)
3. Kang the Mad (From Jade Empire)
4. Shun Akiyama (from Yakuza 4, because he's just a badass)
5. Scarlet Lake (from Alpha Protocol... I'm a sucker for a damn good assassin)
3.

1. The Protagonist from Persona 4 because we need someone who can switch around on the fly and won't
be my rival in love.

2.The Demi Fiend(Nocturne): A smooth talker to get us out of jams and coerce enemies to our side

3. Fuuka Yamagishi(Persona 3): for Support/tactics and to be my love interest

4. Black Whirlwind(Jade Empire): For brute strength and to get us out of bar fights.

5.Locke(FF6):Because we need a thief... I mean treasure hunter.

As for a plot, a loving parody of JRPG tropes and cliches that takes us around the world solving world crisis through magic and knuckle sandwiches.

Infiltrator Commander Shepard - Mass Effect universe. Simply the best Tech/Soldier archetype in gaming.
Morrigan - Dragon Age Origins, because.
Visas Marr - KoToR CQB specialist and the "quiet one".
Mehnlo - Guild Wars - the party healer.
Tracer Tong - the guy that sits at home base and feeds me important info. Because he's cool.

Rikku (FFX), Mission Vao (KotOR), Tali'zora (ME), Neeshka (NWN2), and Mako (TOR).

We would be the most upbeat party of adventurers ever. Wouldn't matter what we ran into, we'd be ready with a positive attitude and a smile and a joke. :)

I'm against overpowered, superman-like characters because i couldn't keep up with them and i don't like to feel like a fifth wheel or something. So...

5 clones of Isaac Clarke.

This man is just a humble engineer, future version of our favorite plumber - Mario. Yet, he survived things that would make Batman hide under the table and sob like a little girl. ;D

Tough one for me really, so many possible people to work from and with

1. have to agree HK-47 is in my party, nothing beats having a homicidal, snarky as hell droid on your side, especially one who is willing to kill anyone for you because you decided they needed to die.
2. gots to have a healer and i am leaning towards Aerith, perfect archetype embodiment
3. With Juk3n on Shepard...he fits the bill in terms of muscle/tech better than anyone
4. not a video game but i want danny ocean from oceans 11...multiple reasons, he covers the face archetype, has access to a lot of contacts, and i am married so gots t have some else in the party be the love interest target
5. probably Celes from FF6, she was always one of my fvorite characters, and need another female party memeber to balance things out

1. Laharl (Disgaea)-A one man army is always nice to have.
2. Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4)- my LI and she knows Almighty spells which no enemy is strong against.
3. Wynne (Dragon Age: Origins)-I got along with her the best in that game and we need a healer.
4. Raul Tejada (Fallout: New Vegas)-A sarcastic gunslinger who is very experienced. And having Danny Trejo around is always fun.
5. Meru (Legend of Dragoon)-The upbeat, full of energy member of the party.
A nice, well-round team ready to take on anything.

2. Jolee Bindo - Knights of the Old Republic
3. Alistair - Dragon Age: Origins
4. Veronica Santangelo - Fallout: New Vegas
5. Varric Tethras - Dragon Age II

Our enemies would fall before our relentless snark.

Gender
Male
1. Adam Jensen (Deus Ex 3): A guy with his skills would be good to have on the team, and his advantage over JC Denton is that he gets abilities faster and recharges with candy.

2. Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves the World): Don't look at me like that; it's a real game. And Cthulhu with all his powers except driving people insane on sight would actually be pretty helpful.

3. Frog (Chrono Trigger): Comic relief-inducing speech manner AND dropping frogs on people's heads. What's not to like?

4. Wrex (Mass Effect): Large, burly and good with guns. And doesn't need any special ammo or mana points, or anything like that, so he'd slow us down even less than Jensen.

5.
Marisa ([Labyrinth of] Touhou): Doesn't seem to run on limited mana, and her kleptomaniac tendencies would certainly help with getting rare item drops... Besides, we need some gender balance.

If not, I'll go with The Kid (Bastion): He's a pretty cool guy who uses loads of weapons and doesn't afraid of anything.

There'd probably be a lot less arguments if the party switched around because of the plot rather than the player's choices, a la Final Fantasy 4. I'd probably also mostly handle strategy rather than that much actual hitting of things.

You left the faculty off that list!?!? You are missing out on maximum snark!

1. Minato Arisato! God I love that guy. I'd ask to borrow his headphones and then never give them back. >.>

2. Zephyr from Resonance of Fate

3. Leanne also from Resonance of Fate :D
YAY GUNS! :D They make for some hilarious moments together.

4. Riku from Final Fantasy X cause she was just a bundle of fun. :p

5. Chihiro also from Persona 3/4. I know she can't really fight or anything, but I want her in my party anyway. Maybe Leanne can teach her how use a gun. :p

It's not like I really want to go around smiting enemies with these people, more like we'd travel around and hang out and occasionally battle whoever stands in our way. :D

I would pick a mage class for myself, so based around that, I'd take:

1. Aveline (Dragon Age: Origins)-Good frontline combatant and a good moral compass.
2. Varric (Dragon Age 2) - Great ranged support, and good frontman
3. Refia (Final Fantasy 3) - With a white mage setup, cause you need a healer
4. Mario (Mario RPGs)- Good jack-of-all trades with melee and magic
5. Cecil Harvey (Final Fantasy 4) - Because he kicks ass.

1. Riku (FF10) - Because she's so damn cute!
2. Wrex (Mass Effect) - Because he's so damn cute!
3. Zidane (FF9) - Because he's so damn cute!
4. Alistair (Dragon Age: Origins) - Because he's so damn cute!
5. Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves the World) - Because he's so damn cute!

My real answer:
1. Wrex (Mass Effect) - He's the most lovable powerhouse ever.
2. Frog (Chrono Trigger) - A) he split a mountain in half with a sword. B) he has a cool accent
3. Sabin (FF6) - He can souplex a mother fuckin' train. Enough said.
4. Boone (Fallout: New Vegas) - Everyone needs Boone.
5. Jack (Wild Arms) - Well, every good party needs a thief character and Jack happens to supply us with a talking rat as well

Hm, I guess I don't really have a healer... Oh well, my group is filled with bad asses so who needs one?

Can't I just clone myself five times? I assure you, there would be no stronger team in the universe.

Unfortunaely, since the universe is bursting at the seams to contain just one of me, my party shall instead be composed of the five greatest videogame swordfighters of all time!

1) Shulk, from Xenoblade Chronicles. His visions of the future are indespensable.
2) The Kusagari from RedSteel 2. He's known as the best Swordslinger* in the west for a reason, y'know.
3) Squall Leonhart, from Final Fantasy VIII. Without a doubt, my favourite FF protagonist by far, even if it's mainly for the hair and the snark.
4) Sora, from Dot Ha- er, I mean Kingdom Hearts. His never-say-die attitude is bound to get us through many a hopeless situation.
5) Crono, Chrono Trigger. Has swordfighting skills almost as good as The Kusagari, plus he has a time machine.

* A guy who fights with a sword and revolver simeltaneously.

Okay, now if this was a serious RPG, the plot would be one o' dem Crisis Crossovers; heroes pulled from their respective worlds to fight a team-up of their respective villains. Hmmmm....

I got it! Sorceress Ultimecea wishes to revive the Zanza, God of the Bionis, but to do so, she requires the aid of multiple dark warriors of time past:

Magus, the legendary Fiendlord
Xeanhort, Commander of the Heartless and Nobodies
Shinjiro, Master of the Forbidden Kusagari Arts

In order to come into contact with them, Ultimecia compresses time in order to combine all time periods into one where all four dark masters exist. What she DIDN'T count on was these five badass swordsmen coming into contact and teaming up to stop them!

Whaddaya think? I still prefer the one with me and my five clones, however...

1. Me (May not survive the quest)

2. The white mage from FF1

3. A second white mage

4. Mint from Tales of Phantasia (I expect to die a lot)

5. A cataur (Mainly to cast flee and 1000 needles)

We shall be known as the Cowardly Lions.
