For me, when I saw People Can Fly's name on the label I instantly was intrigued.
It seems unique. The more of something you have, the less fun it is, and I've had enough "realistic" shoot-em ups to last me for awhile. From what I've seen, read and heard, it seems that Bulletstorm is more about the kill rather than the killing.
What I understand this to be is, that rather than taking out X amount of enemies, or having to survive for X amount of time, it's about HOW you kill, or HOW you survive. Being able to choose how you kill, sounds great. Do I want to kick this guy, shoot him straight up, or blow his ass up to kingdom come? Will I push him back and kill him, or bring him in and tear his ass to pieces?
CoD, even Halo, they're fun (and yes, I know Halo isn't realistic), but what is the point of CoD? To kill people as quick as possible. Halo? Kill as quick as possible. Sure you can aim for the head or chose grenades over bullets, but it's about the easiest, quickest way to kill. From what I've seen, Bulletstorm isn't built on the quickest, but the most FUN way to kill.
Taste is objective totally, and what seems amazing to myself may seem shit to you, that's what's beautiful about the entertainment fields, everything is different. I'm just tired of seeing the same old shit over and over again until I can quote myself from Yahtzee as to having clairvoyance and knowing just what will happen next. I'll take a unique game, filled with tasteless violence, unnecessary sexual appeal, and cuss words abound more than there are extra pounds here in America, than I would a samey game, dull story and risk free controls and features.
