Those people are sad people. They suck in everyday life, in which they don't have a chance to talk down on people, so they do it online, anonymous to people they have never known and will never know.
That was a strange sentence D:
A bit, yea :p Clear nonetheless though.

Holy shit, someone call the police! It looks like we have a case of... Cyber Bullying!

I'm normally able to wind up mic-griefers because i can usually figure out what is pushing their buttons. Some lines that work really well are:

"you sound pissed, if you aren't having fun you shouldn't be playing this game. Take a break and just calm the fuck down"

"Stop being a sore loser, we lost, get over it"

Things like this I have found have completely flabbergasted some mic-griefers, being told they are sore-losers. But if they keep up the verbal abuse then player-mute and then it's their loss, so when they are yelling to me actual USEFUL information then it will be useless.

But if I AM being called a noob and believe it isn't people mouthing off bullshit then I almost always take it as constructive criticism and switch to an assist class like a medic or engineer if it's a team game. If it's a less team based points game (COD4) I'll camp for a while as if I can't get any enemy kills I might as well not walking into my death for the fourth time and earn the opposing team even more points.

Granted you didn't post the dialogue, however this is what I like to call smack talk, it happens so buck up and grow a pair. If you don't like or don't feel like dealing with it, then I have a great method for you to follow. 1) Quit current match, round, whatever. 2) Decide whether you want to keep playing said game, if so find another match and see if step 1) applies. Otherwise go and do something else.

I remember a few particular cases while I was playing Jedi Academy online. I'm by no means great at the game, and face it, lightsaber combat boils down to pure luck 90% of the time. I can remember one or two games where people were telling me I was a noob and should go back and play single-player, despite that I had played the game countless times.

There was one session that always makes me snicker when I think about it. I was supposedly being really annoying. I don't really remember if I was trying to be annoying or not, regardless the server admin says he's debating whether or not to kick me. A few other people seem to agree, but one guy wants to have some fun with me first. He asks the admin to teleport me by him so he can kick my ass. So the admin does so, I fight the guy, and I actually win for once. By that point I could obviously tell I really wasn't welcome, so I went ahead and left. Fun to think about it though. Guy goes through all that trouble to kill me and I actually kill him instead. XD

I usually made it my mission to hunt bullies down in halo and CoD games. It was like a covert mission and they usually quit
