Yes friends, we in America have done it again we've topped ourselves on unnecessary force. On the 21st, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio raided a mans house under suspicion of raising chickens for cockfighting, Of course considering how dangerous those mean roosters are it seemed only prudent to bring in some armor

This is the armor they brought

Basically these guys rolled in in a fucking self propelled howitzer and destroyed the fence, all over one guy and a bit over a hundred chickens.

Yay America, aren't we fucking awesome.

Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention Steven Seagal was in the tank filming for his new reality show.

Them thar sneaky chickens could have had flak jackets, IEDs and unregistered weapons; never be too careful, y'know.

Seriously overkill, Sheriff.

That's a poultry display of fire power. I hope there wasn't anyone egging him on in this fowl attack on his liberties. He might have deserved a bit of bird but this seems really chicky. I hope this plucky farmer was able to egg-stricate himself.

I blame Steven Seagal for that. I don't see what the problem with that is, though, it seems to me like as long as nothing was blown up there's no reason NOT to bring a tank. Hell, if I could have my way, all the police would ride around in tanks. I'd like to see some runner try to plow through a blockade made up of those things.

Now, I'm not saying that the huge-ass cannon on the tank is necessary, but if it can scare somebody out faster than a bunch of dudes wearing Kevlar, it gets the "Thumbs up" from over here.

Oh this is also the guy who has been tirelessly hunting Illegal Immigrants under SB1079, perhaps they were Mexican cartel chickens.

That is awesome. I can just imagine what the guy was thinking: "Okay, the cops are coming all I ha--OH MY FUCKING GOD!"

This is kind of hypocritical... as he kills HUNDREDS (if true) of chickens himself in one go during his process of stopping chickens from killing each other... in short: animal cruelty taken to the extreme level?

But otherwise this is just pointless...

The fact that the police even has a tank is fucking scary.

Are you Americans actually prepared to use tanks against you own populatin?

Damn...

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

I love how they have War on Drugs in big letters and underlined on the tank. We take that war seriously in America. Even when it doesn't involve drugs.

I look forward to a video of a sherrif yelling on top of a tank like a drunk hill-billy, only for a drug dealer to order his two goons to RPG-7 the fool.

Explosives aren't that hard to obtain, should you need them.

Upon further reading... it was Steven Segal's fault. He's kind of a dick...

I imagine the report at the police station:
-"Sir, we have received information about a man raising chicken for fighting."
-"Send in the Tank!"
-"But...sir. THey are only chick..."
-"I SAID SEND IN THE FU***** TANKS!"
-"Right away sir."

Maybe not our human population but most definitely our poultry population.

It's almost 4:30 in the morning here, I'm the only one awake, and this just made me laugh really loud, thanks for that.

The tank didn't roll over the chickens. They brought in the tank over the matter of chickens. No chickens were squashed in the process of arresting a cock fighter. The only thing squashed was the fence.

Ok, everyone stop whining.

The OP glossed over the single most important factor here. And I quote: "Oh and I forgot to mention Steven Seagal was in the tank filming for his new reality show."

The has absolutely NOTHING to do with excessive force used by the police and EVERYTHING to do with hollywood dramatization.

If you want to ***** at something about this, ***** at Seagal and his producers, not the sheriff.

I was eating a bowl of cereal when I entered this thread. I managed to choke down a laugh at the first line, but by the second line I was literally choking.

That's Arizona, they are part of the U.S. pretty much in name only.
Perfect example of why limited State's rights in favor of overarching federal power was a good idea.
