I've never thought companies give a crap about me.
Companies only care about the money.
I like some more than others, but I trust them all about as far as I can throw them.
I like them when they're `not as shitty as they could be`.

No one cares about the gamers. They care about their wallets. Not a hard concept to understand. I don't give a fuck which company screwed over whoever. That shit is to be expected.
To be expected maybe, but we should still care who screws over who, so us consumers can punish companies which continually screw over customers by avoiding their products. They may not care about the gamers but they will care when their bad reputation starts hitting their profit margins. We should all stay educated and try to reward good companies whenever possible, make it an effective business strategy to be good to your customers.
Fair point. I think voting with my wallet is a sufficient strategy to use. But voicing errors a company has made is also good.

But it's true! My PC really doesn't care about me! I was sick last week, and the bastard couldn't even be bothered to send me a get well card! /J

Seriously though, OP's experience might be the most off-the-wall stupid thing I have heard in the past few weeks, and I am a guy who frequently visits creationist youtube-channels for the lulz. At least there you expect the mind-numbing "arguments" in advance...
If you think that was bad you haven't even heard the whole story. It wasn't even a debate over what was better, who had better suppliers, no, it was someone asking how the stealthing was in Batman Arkham City as well as combat as the person was planning on getting it for their console. I said it worked really well and played smoothly on Pc. Then some other random guy comes out of the blue and starts yelling that at me.

Once I brought up the earlier mentioned point as well as the point that has been recited much here that essentially no company actually cares about you and just sees you as income at the end of the day he shut up.

Insert Sony in there and you've got the basic response I got when I was asked why I play Pc games and was not getting a Playstation 4. I was told "PC DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE GAMERS!". Yes I was told that in all caps. This is why I stopped using Facebook and now shall continue to do so.
Of course it doesn't. It's a machine and not the sentient variety either.

Anyway...
There isn't a company in this industry that actually cares about the Gamers. They only care about the Gamers' money. It's just that some are better at disguising that fact then others. Also since it's become clear that a large number of Gamers are shallow instant gratification types who'll gleefully hand over their money no matter how much a company screws them over, many of these companies have realized that they don't even need to try anymore.

PC might not have supported gamers in the past, but at least he's been trying recently:

Albeit not very well, but come on. Man's making an effort.

This is the sort of thread that reminds me as to why I don't hang around gaming threads. Sure companies don't care, companies are a conglomerate of many minds with one particular vision in mind, to provide a service, if you like it then you buy it, if you don't then find somebody else that does and quit your bitching.

Of course nobody cares about Gamers, gamers is redundant term that could be as easily replaced with customers or consumers. No shit all they care about is your money, all you care about is the product, if people could/can get it for as little as possible then they will. People are inherently greedy and only care about what's happening to them, colour me shocked.

Even indies (to which I am one) only care about your money, we want to create a game that you like enough that you'll feel inclined to buy the next one we put out, so we don't starve to death in our cardboard boxes.

Now I've got to go pet a cute dog and stare at some bosoms before I hang myself with PS3's power cable from all the bullshit in this thread that I've just contributed to.

It never amazes me how people will try and take their feelings for a corporation and assume they're reciprocated.
So you're not surprised people expect it?
LOL

Type. I meant never ceases to amaze me.

Though on some level, I really am not surprised. So maybe I was writing what my subconscious really thinks.

Indies are a touch more likely to care about the product they put out. One can have motivations other than money, but a corporation's raison d'être is money. That puts it at odds with the mentality people promote.

I'm not sayinf indies are kind-hearted and generous, but when you're not a corporation, your approach can be different. I write to entertain both myself and others, but also want to make money off of it. In fact, I really do care more about the former than the latter.

Much like an inanimate object (a PC) can't care about gamers, neither can a concept in peoples heads and some pieces of paper (a company). A company could contain some people that "care about gamers", but you still have to realize what a company is, and that is an institution with a goal to make money by manufacturing and selling a product. It can be their PR strategy to appear as though they care about gamers, but in essence it's there to make money and will do whatever seems optimal at the time (depending on the management, either in the long term or short term).
Also a company is by definition not a single person, and everybody is different to a certain extent - maybe some employees of your company "care about gamers", maybe some of them don't. So it's much easier to not look at it as "who cares about gamers" but ask "how much do the actions of this company benefit me as a gamer"

The reason I keep putting "caring about gamers" under quotation marks is because that is such a strange concept anyway. What does that even mean? I don't think I care about gamers.. Not any more than the guy that hands over my burger at mcdonalds.. I think you would really need to very specifically define the words "caring" and "gamer" to get anywhere with that phrase

A company's first responsibility is to care for its shareholders, not its consumers. Treating consumers well is a means to an end. But I suppose there could be a situation in which the heads of a privately owned company could be passionate about serving gamers.

I don't think this is true now, but in the 1990s and early 2000s I think Blizzard either cared about gamers, cared about putting out great products, or both. From December 1995 to November 2008 they put out 13 games (12 if we skip re-releases) all bar one (and even that was debatable) of which came in over 8/10 by any fair measure, and they cancelled a couple of games that weren't coming together correctly. Don't think any other developer has had a strike rate that good, before or since.

Companies that make PCs care a LOT about gamers (wallets), since gamers spend more on PCs & peripherals & parts than anyone. If you spend a fortune on a rig, you'd be insane not to game on it.

$3,000 Samsung MD230X3 SyncMaster Full HD 3-panel Multi Display System.
$300 Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E 7 Keyboard.

$1,091 EVGA GeForce GTX690 4096MB GDDR5 512bit, Dual GPU, 2xDVI-I,DVI-D,mDisplayPort, Quad SLI Ready Graphics Card Graphics Card.

Big massive companies might not show much caring but I'm sure some out there would, family companies (like small ones) could certainly care about their customers since not every single person in the world thinks only of money like how some are portrayed as.

Also really confused about the whole "PC cares more about you than a console will" logic since the PC is just an object put together with parts just like a console.

Anyone else remember Karutomaru? Who claimed Capcom cared for its fans, not money, that they cared only for the smiles on their fans faces than the money from their wallets.

Yeah, sure they do, that is why they didn't bring Ace Attorney Investigations 2 over....

[sub]NO! I am never getting over that![/sub]
Capcom do care thats why they are in such bad financial trouble they care so much that they just want to give the fans what they want regardless of whether it makes them money or not like that much longed for update of MVC3 thats totally happening soon no the games not being pulled what the hell you talking about, or ofc theres the new Megaman game fans wanted it gone and bam Capcom got rid of it despite all that money it would have brought in same with Darkstalkers 4 they were dead set on making that but once again the fans showed they didnt want it by not purchasing x million copies of Darkstalkers ressurection which contained 2 games that people who care about the franchise likely own multiple copies of already and Capcom kill the project thankgod they listen. Im just looking forward to the next Breath of Fire game I was hoping they would do something like that with the franchise for ages.

End rant: Yeah anyway never assume a company cares about you they dont, some people on the company may actually do so I suppose but a business never does or rather a profit making business never does. There are some groups who actually care about the game and are not looking to make a profit at all and I applaud these people it takes a lot to put in time and effort to make a quality product and then to just want to get it out there and give it to people so hopefully they will enjoy it as well and to not look for any financial recuperation at all takes a heck of a lot of character, which is probably why it happens so rarely theres not many people passionate about something that they are willing to put in time effort and be out of pocket as well just to see it through.

PC is an asshole. Screw that guy, he doesn't care about the gamers.
Nah, I think PC is a pretty cool guy. Eh plays gaems and doesn't afraid of anything.

OT: I'm genuinely not sure what they mean. Given that they are PS4 fans, I'd hazard that they mean MS, since most PCs will typically be running windows, but otherwise I just... I don't...

Sorry, I think my brain is slowly shutting down. I'm going to play some CS:GO, hopefully then I will realise how little "PC doesn't care about gamers." :p
