Over the last few weeks, I've been eating and drinking alot more junk food (Depression does that to me) and I think I've developed an addiction to caffeine. Last night I drank 2 cans of Pepsi before bed, and I often go through several bottles of Coke a day at school.

Does this pose any serious threat to my health?

I had that. It gets to the stage where you cant stay awake for more than 4 hours without a can of red bull.

Yeah you might want to cut down on sugar and start eating fruits instead of drinking sodas.
I feel like Captain Planet should say something about this too.

Well, I'd be more worried about getting the depression treated. Believe me, it helps. A lot.

Lack of sleep can lead to lower brain performance and more physical stress. I'm not saying it's deadly, but try to control it.

not especially providing you can keep it relatively under control.
I am a long term caffeine addict, and can tell you the the worst that happens is a total lack of energy without it. plus the withdrawls can be nasty due to the lack of energy.

if you want, I can explain exactly how the caffeine affects your body, don't worry, it's not gory or graphic in any way.

P.S. drink lot's of water to avoid dehydration.

I'm not sure about the caffeine (a very high dose could kill you though)
I just know the soda is god awful for you

That stuff rots your bones

You should try starting on coffee to keep you awake. That's a slippery and it turns out very expensive slope. But still a tasty one nonetheless.

I have been drinking nearly a liter or two a day, for most of my life. Headaches are minor at this point if I go without it though.

I used to drink soda like noones business. Theen about 4 years ago, I quit cold turkey.

Nowadays, if I need caffeine, I'll go get a cup of coffee, and I never have more than one a day. Over the years, I have become sensitive to caffeine, presumably because I drank too much as a kid. So if I were to have any after about 7pm, I'm up until 4am. That helps me "just say no".

SUGAR: Its probably the sugar making you feel this way, namely high fructose corn syrup. Foods with high caffeine tend to have very high sugar content as well, mainly high fructose corn syrup. Large quantities of this kind of sugar can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and since your having it before bed, imsomnia, and more. Its mostly the sugar you are 'addicted' to, and its my suggestion that you cut down on the SUGAR.

Its going to feel super crappy, and sad, a kind of detox, when you stop drinking large quantities of sugar because of your bodies reliance on it for the release of dopamine, a nuerotransmitter that releases a feeling of pleasure, so it is very similar to an addiction, but much easier to overcome. I would try to replace soda with a healthier alternative like natural tea, diet soda, or just any sort of drink that does not have high fructose corn syrup.

Feel better soon! :)

It's very bad stuff. Very bad. Lots of people get really addicted, and then they need caffeine to function at all or they have terrible withdrawal symptoms. I drink pop every now and then, but I try to avoid too much steady caffeine in my system. If one must drink it, I recommend caffeinated tea or something to slowly break the addiction. The natural caffeine found in such beverages is healthier than the artificial stuff.

If you get yourself addicted to cocaine, then your caffeine addiction should lessen. It worked for me. ;)
