Around here we're not big (consumers) of alcohol and we don't do drugs harder than... caffeine.

That's right, caffeine is the drug of choice in my household. Question is - for those of you who love it - how do you ingest it?

Mainly we drink mate, or Yerba maté as it's properly called (and spelled) -

It's a different feeling than coffee or tea, more like a slow-release of energy into the body without the jitters. It comes in a few different types. There are supposedly many health benefits to drinking it, but I just like the flavor and feeling it gives me.

Every day we try to drink at least a bit of HIGH QUALITY matcha tea; and there are only about two companies out there producing it for Americans, at least. You want stone ground, from Japan - not air-blasted Chinese stuff.

We drink coffee sometimes, about one or two days out of the week, and make it using a "slow pour" method by fresh-grinding our coffee using extremely high quality beans and brewing it in one of these sexy numbers:

We take our caffeine very, very seriously in the Gnome household. When it's your major/only drug of choice, I think it deserves proper respect.

How do you all get your caffeine fix, or do you hate the stuff?

I have caffeine in different sodas, but that's about it. I don't drink coffee or energy drinks, because I don't like them.

Yeah. Domble's reviews are sweeeeeeeeet.

I don't have a caffeine fix, really. I'll drink juice or soda.

Sometimes even caffeine-free soda. And I'm not a coffee/tea man, either.

But I love me some juice.

I just around only drink it in sodas, I don't drink coffee or tea or energy drinks or anything.

Usually in Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, since for some reason we can't find caffine-free variants of them her.

I crush it into dust, mix it with cocaine, then proceed to do lines until I feel like heads going to erupt. Just coffee for me, pretty boring I know, probably go through 2-3 cups a day at the least.

I am a heavy consumer of tea. I drink about 6 cups of tea per day on average. I think I comsume over 2 kg of pure tea per year.

Usually green tea, though a little bit of white tea every once in a while. I do prefer sencha, and pai mu dan (white). I also LOVE matcha, though it is unfortunately extremely expensive.

I don't like the caffeine as much, but there are other drugs in tea (and one in particular) I'm far more interested in. Part of the reason I don't drink any coffee. Enough cups of tea and I start having strange and interesting thoughts about the world, it is quite enjoyable.

I don't drink alcohol either. I've tried it a few times, but it doesn't compare at all to the caring and lovely touch of tea. Though I'm probably a bit weird like that.

Um.. Nescafé?

In a standard tea cup too. No coffee mug for me.

I know, I'm a rebel.
You are a rebel. And old school. ;)

Some people just view caffeine as a quick way to get a rush but I prefer to enjoy the "ceremony" behind it, if you will.

Are you talking about the L-theanine in tea? That's my main reason for drinking matcha. Lots and lots (and LOTS) of the stuff to the point where it almost calms me down more than anything else.

Alcohol is... overrated. I enjoy the taste of a good microbrew every now and then but the effects turn people into boring jackasses, as far as I can tell. My wife and I jokingly call it "domestic violence juice" ...

Mostly through the liquid crack that is Big K Citrus Drop, but also through coffee. I like coffee, I like tea, I like the java and the java likes me.

Yeah, well, I'm addicted to good old soft drinks (soda, pop, whatever you want to call it) and some tea.

Strangely enough, I don't drink coffee. Tried. Fucking hated the stuff. It is not the elixir of life that many adults seem to think it is.
Coffee isn't for everyone. It makes my partner get the jitters something fierce but my wife and I love it. I view it as a "special occasion, once or twice a week" kind of thing.

Horrible coffee is horrible but freshly roasted properly brewed coffee is nectar of the Goddess. :D

I've slowed down my life quite a bit in my 30's. In my 20's I was fond of, say, espresso and fast, drip coffee. ;)

I hate putting cream or sugar in coffee.

And I also like the ritual surrounding the ingestion of caffeine - we do everything too fast, methinks. It helps me slow down and clears my mind and gives me a way to smell the roses, so to speak.

Monster energy drink and Mountain dew for me.
I'm surprised I haven't seen any Red Bull fans in this thread. We have a case of it (from Costco) in the outside/garage fridge but neither my wife nor I can seem to bring ourselves to ever actually drink it.

:D
