Thank you. I believe our house is an interesting place as well.Hiikuro said:That is exactly it! I did get myself some supplemental suntheanine from an online store here in Europe, it was terribly difficult to find. I did some experiments to find out how it acted on higher doses, very interesting drug. Though I'm done with that now. I've figured that a strong cup of matcha with a few hundred milligrams of L-theanine makes for a cozy and dreamful night. The Gnome King said:Are you talking about the L-theanine in tea? That's my main reason for drinking matcha. Lots and lots (and LOTS) of the stuff to the point where it almost calms me down more than anything else.
Alcohol is... overrated. I enjoy the taste of a good microbrew every now and then but the effects turn people into boring jackasses, as far as I can tell. My wife and I jokingly call it "domestic violence juice" ...
My greatest "simple" reason for not consuming any alcohol is that it "silences the mind", and I start feeling claustrophobic and shut in.. But.. I shouldn't start talk about that, for I have some unfortunate emotional issues with my attitude towards alcohol. Theres a few types I like the taste of though, but there's still the issue that it contains alcohol.. Though I think you absolutely nailed my sentiment towards it in that last paragraph.
I must say that your household sounds like an amazingly interesting place ^_^.
Matcha is hard to come by in your part of the world? How do online retailers work there? I know you can order from DoMatcha here in the states; but DoMatcha is located in far-off Canada...poiumty said:Man, I gotta get me some of that matcha thing. Too bad there is absolutely zero chance of that where I live. Maybe in the future, if my country stops being so backwards.
Anyway, instant coffee here. I found a brand I like, it has vitamins added and is meant to act as an "energizer" of sorts. It also tastes better than most, so it's perfect. One packet of that, one teaspoon of sugar (or two cubes of brown sugar) and one teaspoon of powdered coffee creamer. Add hot water, stir.
Though in the summer I'm pretty partial to a cold frappe. Instant coffee, lots of sugar, ice-cold milk and cream if it's a good day. The sugar's a ***** to dissolve due to the ice-cold water but the added effort just makes it more tasty.
I do love espresso when it's made fresh and proper.octafish said:Espresso machine, my neighbour has a cafe class brass beast, I just have a domestic doodad, all manual. I'm going to make myself a long black now.
My wife is kind of like this... she can drink gallons and gallons of caffeine without it affecting her much. (And I'm on a beta-blocker for mild hypertension and a tad of left ventricular hypertrophy; ever since I started taking Bystolic it seems like I'm basically immune to stimulants.)VaudevillianVeteran said:I have a high tolerance so it doesn't work on me when I'm tired. I drink a lot of soda, coffee and tea. Oh and coffee icecream~
Slowly killing you?arragonder said:Fuck caffeine, or probably just fuck energy drinks, that stuff is slowly killing me, and I vividly remember that every time I have one.
I already gave up drinking alcohol and smoking nicotine about a decade ago; I think if I had to give up caffeine, too, I'd probably kill something.Monkfish Acc. said:I drink cheap as fuck, pure fuel, instant coffee. By the truckload.
Only I have been off it like a week to see if it helps my headache any.
So far I just want to choke everything. You know, more than usual.
Tea... hmm... I like two sites in particular for tea:RandallJohn said:I love tea, but I don't know much about it. I've been looking to learn more. Any good resources? (And for sake of the OT, that's my choice of caffeine.)
My heart goes out to those who can't drink caffeine.Gildan Bladeborn said:Back when I regularly ingested caffeine? Tea of various varieties - these days though I mainly stick to herbal tea blends and avoid caffeine altogether.
I like chamomile tea at bedtime... but it's definitely the opposite of an eye-opener.Brutal Peanut said:Just coffee usually. I like my coffee the way I like my men. Sweet, and milky.[small] What can I say, I really like white guys.[/small] =D
Actually not even that.We HAVE coffee beans stored in the freezer for when I'd like the rare cup and when people come over. I bring out the beans, measure, grind up in a coffee grinder. Grinding your own beans is just worth it.
I tend to just drink tea. I usually buy an Ito En Matcha Blend and Lipton tea bags for company, because it can be bought in bulk. The Ito En Matcha blend is consumed plain and delicious. I tend to put almond milk and a plant-based sweetener in my hot Lipton tea. It's just good and warms you to the core.
[small]*whispers* I have some delicious chamomile tea stashed away for myself. [/small]
Oddly enough, I thought that's what this would be about >.>Onyx Oblivion said:Yeah. [user]Domble[/user]'s reviews are sweeeeeeeeet.
