OT: I'm glad to hear that a government has been put back into its place. Victory for California.

No, a ruling that the FCC did not have sufficient regulatory authority to prevent news stations from telling outright lies makes it legal for news stations to tell straight out lies. (a claim which itself is only half true).Konrad Curze said:I am assuming you mean this as sarcasm but the simple fact is that the constitution is bad news for democracy. The people voted against gay marriage. Lets not forget that the constitution also makes it legal for news stations to tell straight out lies.Matt_LRR said:yeah, that whole defence of the constitution thing, real bad news for democracy.Konrad Curze said:Ahh its a dark day for democracy.
Even worse since this already happened and Prop 8 had to come along to fix it.

I believe gay marriage is wrong, that is just my opinion, Its just sounds like an oxymoron to meFurious Styles said:The title says it all, but here's a link

Basically, a judge found the ban was unconstitutional.
Personally, I am pretty glad they've done this. It's a victory for civil rights and just generally great (speaking as a brit).

The majority is NOT always right. If the majority voted for slavery, racism, or sexism to come back, it wouldn't be right. This is the same thing.Konrad Curze said:I am assuming you mean this as sarcasm but the simple fact is that the constitution is bad news for democracy. The people voted against gay marriage. I just meant that this isn't youtube, no one's going to say "Fukin fagz, marrige is 4 straight peepz" or something else stupid like that.Wayneguard said:The elitism... I can almost taste it.
Santa Clarita was the same way, and I felt ashamed to live thereMcupobob said:About time my state got its head out of its ass. You can blame the whole prop 8 on my county btw. My whole area was for it and when it got passed the first time my class cheered. Oh well its over turned and this is a victory for civic rights!
This is true. A system of government based on majority opinion leaves people of a minority opinion vulnerable. A republic can better protect peoples' rights than a pure democracy. Besides, America is too big to be a democracy.Eldarion said:We live in a republic, my misinformed friend. The United states is not a democracy. Witch is better in my opinion. This way, civil rights are protected.Konrad Curze said:Ahh its a dark day for democracy.

You removed homosexuality from the list of mental disease in nineteen-ninety-freaking-nine. And public support for gay marriage in Russia stands at 14%.seryoga said:finally we can have professionals lead the masses of nazis instead of the bigoted american masses, at leeast i can proudly call myself a born russian and not a member of the idiots who drag this country down with them
Why? All it means is two people are now taxed as a unit and have new medical/legal proxies.MrFluffy-X said:I believe gay marriage is wrong, that is just my opinion, Its just sounds like an oxymoron to meFurious Styles said:The title says it all, but here's a link

Don't worry it's not a trap, any opinion is valid so long as you argue rationally. Is it about the definition of marriage or a religious thing or what?warboss5 said:snip
Its only a trap because you require rational arguments, roflFurious Styles said:Don't worry it's not a trap, any opinion is valid so long as you argue rationally. Is it about the definition of marriage or a religious thing or what?warboss5 said:snip
