OOC: PurpleRain said the doors were locked, so I was curious as to whether locksmith was like lockpick or not.

OOC: Toe/Travis has opened the door leading to the corpses already, if I recall correctly...either that or he forgot they were locked.

OOC: Jack and Travis locked the doors leading out so noone would go in and see the bodies. but later they opened them again. You can go look now if you want. Sorry about the confusion. But if you go in, you have to make a SAN roll to look upon the scene. That is a roll on a D100 under your current Sanity.

Also

Saheed walks into the hall full of the investigators with a worried look on his face.

"Jack had just told me that Dr Spencer was dead. is this true?"

OOC: Yeah, timing problems there - Toe had just made a post in which he showed me the bodies. Following that he went up to Hubert's Office, so we can assume both doors are NOW open I'd say.

Sorry for double post, wasn't thinking there.

Jacob had returned to the main hall to see Jack fail to sneak in, followed by Saheed. He chose to ignore Jack's absence, feeling Saheed's presence explained where he had gone, and answered the man's question;

"It may or may not be true - for now we seem to be assuming it is, but unless you can identify the body somehow then we don't know for sure...there is evidence to suggest it is, but on the other hand that could be coincidental...I take it you wish to see for yourself?"

OOC: I think I'm getting some of it.

Andy, having been in the other rooms and missing what had previously happened, walked into the hall to find the others distraught and Saheed asking if the Professor was dead.
He decided to just follow along with what they were telling Saheed.

"The Doctor?" Saheed stood there for a moment looking quite concerned. "Okay. Take me to the body."

Jack stood like a deer caught in the head lights for a second before regaining his composer and walking towards the crowd. He listened to the gossip for a few minutes and then when Saheed started moving towards the basement, Jack followed.

Aaron grew tired of waiting for Dr. Spencer, standing up from his seat he headed for the main door, giving a nod and smile to the receptionist behind the desk. The cold air took him abit by surprise as he exited the Embassy, he'd forgotten that deserts could get quite freezing at night.
I dont think its night, as we made our way here in the morning. Oh well, an honest mistake, just tipping you off so it doesnt mess with any further posts. =)

Jacob, having finished trying to decipher the symbol, turned and saw Travis behind him in the office.

"Okay, forgetting the impossible corpse downstairs for now - after all, if we spread around that his death seems physically impossible people are bound to start going hysterical, so let's concentrate on what we DO have. Is this where you found the notes? Any way of telling what might have been taken? Someone seemed pretty desperate to get into that box after all, might give us an idea as to why this is happening. Also, what do you think of Memnon, Hubert's project? He may have just gone on to there after all, providing the body downstairs isn't his...I'm not saying we blindly run into an unknown temple, but it could be a future move and we should probably think about it."

"Oh, we will be making our way to the dig site, dont you worry about that. And yes, maybe I did over react, but after all its not like I find self flammable bodies everyday..." Travis replied with some stress. Travis continued to look around the desk, sifting through the contents ontop of the desk and suddenly excalimed "Eureka!". Pulling a slip of paper off the table, Travis beckoned Jacob over. Showing Jacob the list, Travis explained "While in the office, Jack and I came across several things, including this list. Sorry that I only mentioned it just now, must have slipped my mind. But, this should list all the items in that crate downstairs."

The list of recent finds from Memnon.
It includes: Ancient Book, the Kitab Al-Azif. Deffinally not Egyptian, ancient or current.
Sacrificial knife.
Ancient bronze sword.

"So, according to the list only one item remains from the crate; the brone sword from the crate... Who would want to steal some ancient knife and book?" Travis asked of Jacob. After his reply (you can reply, but I'll leave after), Travis snapped his fingers, saying "Hell, I used to study history. Maybe I can dig something up in the library...". Travis said out loud, and he left the room. Approaching a nearby rack, Travis begins his search...

EDIT:

Serching through a few books you eventually come to match up the name of the book to a few discriptions. It's Arabic, and translated to 'the book of the howlings of the desert demons or Jinn' or more poetically, 'the book of the Approacher.' Yet none of the books you go through mention anything at all about a book or anything in the least related to it. Just the translated words.

OOC: Whoops, my bad, I thought I read in a previous post that night had fallen. Aaron just also walked into a crowded room and yelled if anyone was there I just realized. Lets just assume he really needs a pair of glasses.

IC: Aaron stepped foward gently grabbing Saheed on the shoulder to get his attention. "Excuse me, but did you just say Doctor Spencer...is dead?" A look of fear creapt over his face as the all too familliar knot in his stomach returned.

What are you looking for? Cults or the name of the book?
Basically, anything that could be useful. But if I have to pick, the book.

Also, I really need to learn to check before I post... Sorry for messing things up, lets mess with time and act like its all ok.

"I see, would it be alright if I accompanied you to the bodies? I'm a student Doctor, I might be able to help, if only a little."

Pulling books from their shelves, Travis was surprised to find a helpful piece of information regarding the books name. Tucking the information away, Travis rushes downstairs to share the new discovery with the others. However, descending the staircase he is surprised to see the face of Saheed, who is currently conversing with a member of the group. Stepping forward, Travis speaks bluntly "Sorry to interupt, but I must ask Saheed a question.". Turning to Saheed, Travis asks "Saheed, have you ever heard of 'The Book of the Approacher'? How about 'The Book of the Howlings of the Desert Demons or Jinn'?".

The group stares in bewilderment at Travis, who proceeds to explain. "I think I have this figured out. I know that Prof. Spencer aquired three items recently, and these items included a large bronze sword, a sacrifical knife, and the said book. We know that someone killed two people in the basement, along with the other clues.", which Travis proceeds to outline again, the missing items from the crate and the strange fire marks. "So, where did the Professor get these items Saheed?" he asked with some anger.

"Who would want to? The same people who write symbols on the wall and kill people, I imagine - probably insecure, psychopathic individuals who think that ritual killings will give them untold power from their particular unheard-of deity."

Jacob had left Travis behind in the Library and was waiting to see what Saheed would decide - the student Doctor could be useful, in case Travis could have only gleamed so much with just Chemistry.

"Saheed, you may be able to lift a great burden from all of us if you can confirm the body is not Spencer's, or you can allow us to rightfully grieve if it is him, but you really should see for yourself - if there's anything you can do we'd be immensely grateful. It won't be pleasant in the slightest, but maybe there is something we could identify Hubert by? Anything that would remain that wouldn't be burnt away? I'm afraid all I can think of are his teeth, but I only met the man for the first time yesterday, and didn't get the chance to inspect his mouth - does he have any missing? Anything distinctive? Please try Saheed."

Before he can answer, however, Travis enters the room and begins to outline the situation further to Saheed, and then demands answers, mentioning desert demons and something about howling.

"If you're about to suggest an ancient spirit hopped out of the Islamic faith and burnt Dr. Spencer to death, then please don't, things are bad enough as it is."

Could a successful set of rolls identify what the Kitab Al-Azif is? I.e. occult rolls, ideas and cross-referencing in the Library? Unless Travis has sufficiently done this? I couldn't tell if he actually found an accurate representation of that book or not.

I managed to extract only the name of the book from Prof. Spencers library. Those demons your talking about are part of another title for the book, as it has two.

OOC; I'm so confused, does that mean we have the book or not? So we know the title, but not what it contains?

"Erm." Maz speaks quietly from his bench to the side of the room. "I studied history quite a lot, and I think I remember hearing something about that in one of Dr. Spencer's lessons..." He thinks for a moment, trying to remember if the books Travis mentioned have any historical significance.

I rolled a 31 and my history skill is 90, so I think I passed that.

Max nodded to himself. "I do remember something about the book," he said, sounding pleased.

OOC: So, what does Max know, o Keeper?
