I have a question.
I'll preface it by saying that although I dont't buy Call of Duty games anymore, finding them pretty tired and uninspiring, I do still want to try them. It's the same way you want to see summer blockbusters, you know they're stupid but you still want to indulge in that stupidity for the sake of fun.
With me and Call of Cuty I would love to indulge in a little over-the-top stupidity and play the single player campaign. As for multipler I could take it or leave it. If I want military multiplayer action I don't need a whole collection of Call of Duties to satisfy that itch. Like I said I don't buy Call of Duty games any more because I don't think it is worth the price, (which for me is $120NZD which is too expensive even when exchange rates are considered.) However I probably would buy the single player component alone if it was, say half the price.
So my question is this: If you don't buy in to Call of Duty any more, (or just don't,) would you be more likely to pay a lesser price for one of its two components? Should sales of Call of Duty include an option to let people buy only one part of it? With digital distribution I'm sure this would be easy enough, (i.e. wouldn't leave the way open for hackers to hack into the multiplayer game after only buying the single player.) I'm sure most would jump on the opportunity to buy the single player alone than the multiplayer so maybe there could be the options to either buy the full game or just the single player. It'd work for me.
Because yeah, I'd love to get into the hype of a poorly-written explosion-laden, (but fun,) single player campaign but there's no way I feel comfortable handing over my money for an unbalanced and samey multiplayer game that I've already played before.
Opinions?
