Not even pirating - what about importing? paying american prices and a little extra for shipping its still cheaper than the original cost of the game.

In Belgium we have to pay even more for all games.
?69.99 ==> $99.87 (of which less than $10 are taxes)
Pity us!
In Portugal we pay ?74 for PS3 games! That´s over $100! What the hell...

I recall that price last Christmas season, haven't seen it since here.

The question: Should Europeans and Australians get a price cut, or should America and Asia get a raise?
Better for us, or more amusement on the internet?
Such a difficult choice.

Yeah well, us PC gamers state side have to pay 20% more, too... Yeah, I know, they still have 5% on us, but they aren't the only ones getting an increased price... First no prestige edition for PC and they are increasing the price of the game... Umm... I'll buy a different game...

While I wasn't planning on buying another clone of CoD4 anyway, this has strengthened my resolve. I will refuse to buy any game with a hiked price. Even if you buy into their excuse that this is because of the economy, do you really think they'll drop the price when things get sorted? No!
All I have to say is thank fuck EA have guaranteed that they won't raise their prices; I'd be pissed if I had to refrain from buying mass effect 2 because of principles. :D

Sadly Activision can actually do this as you know that the game is still going to be in the top ten sold games a year from now and it is going to the top of the most played on the PSN and Xbox Live as well.

That's at least a 25% price increase, though the article goes tries to justify this as the game has unusually high replay value to justifies the price, but it is interesting that Activision is alone in this price hike for this specific game.
That's extreme bullshit.

Also, this is old news.

There are games out there that have far, far more replay value, and don't cost as much. Also, Activision said this was a "test" to the consumers. If we all boycott the game, then they wont continue with this, if we all buy the game (what the majority likely will do) then they said they'll continue to stamp these high prices onto games.

All you people need to toughen up and just not buy it. Seriously. Fuck Activision, this is the only way that this madness can stop.

I know it's a 'hot' release but sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the greater good.

Well Amazon.co.uk are still going to sell it at £44.99--

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Call-Duty-Modern-Warfare-Xbox/dp/B0021AETNQ/ref=pe_18911_16275431_as_txt_1/

Chances are it'll be just the highstreet stores that try to sell it at £54.99. I reckon most of the internet stores like Amazon, Play, etc will keep their prices at £44.99

In fact, if anything, raising the RRP in retail stores is probably good news for places like Amazon because it means more sales for them and less to their competitors.

Pity my PC can't run it or I'd just download it illegally to say "If you charge more then you get nothing".
Sadly I'll have to get it on PS3 so can't stick two fingers up at Activision. Bugger.

Old news, but it's still crap. It's not like Activision/Blizzard is in any need of money. They're probably some of the richest people on the planet and making people pay almost a hundred dollars for a game is insane.

Pfft, bullshit on the "Unusually high amount of replayability", if that were true at all then all open world games would cost $100. I don't live in the UK, but when Activision complained that the PS3 isn't lowering it's price in this economy, yet they rose the price of the standard edition of the game in this economy, that's where the hypocrisy annoys me.

It's still funny though, hypocrisy is so much fun!

I'll wait a few months for the price to drop.

Or pick it up in Sainsbury's, everything's cheaper there.
Cpt good luck with that, it's two years later and COD4 is still 50 bucks.... or what would your equivalent be.... hmm 30 pounds?? Is that right?

Wow that was so hard I almost had to Google.

But on the subject yeah its bulshit, no fps fan and no intention of picking it up but Activision better not think of making this a market trend £30-40 pounds is bad enough with the current economy piss off with 60.

Yes, it's not like the price would double, maybe triple, to send over seas to Europe (unless Amazon has places in Europe, in which case I retract it and you need to find it in Euros/Pounds)
