I don't think they're going for that much innovation.

How many years did it take for them to get off WW2

I don't think Trench Warfare would be all that amazing =/

The ending of Modern Warfare 2 teased at a sequel. I imagine Modern Warfare 3 will be set around 2020. As for the next Call of Duty game, it all depends on Treyarch is doing. We may get a World War II game and we might not. Hopefully we might get Call of Duty: The Six Day War or something along those lines.

No, absoulutely not, all of my friends say they like the WW2 better than Modern Warfare.
Funny, all of my friends say the exact opposite.

And the whole thing would ruin CoD. Its not Star Wars or Mass Effect.
Agree with you there though, can't ever see CoD going to future warfare.

I'm thinking that if we see anymore 'backtracks' in time within the next several years, it will be Treyarch at the head of that project. Either it will be another title set in WWII (a safe bet) or take place during another "popular" war such as Vietnam.

As for Infinity Ward's next few projects, MW3 is a guarantee. If we do see a "Sci-Fi" Call of Duty game, I'm thinking that it will come in the form of a new series entirely, dropping association with the CoD franchise.

Great one. I imagine a campaign in this game. Who overly patriotic 20-something Americans would rather play as: Taliban or Soviet army?
Do both! One of the reasons the people at IW created their own company instead of continuing to work on the Medal of Honor franchise is that they wanted to do edgier stuff such as let the player go through a German campaign. Why not have the player fight on both sides of that war?

It's also a great opportunity to have a tutorial set in a taliban camp where they're trained by the CIA.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I said THAT THE MFCKN FUTURE COD WON'T EXIST the thread is about a CoD with LASER GUNS, NOT how much money do they earn.
You said "all of my friends say they like the WW2 better than Modern Warfare, so that means it sells more," which is fucking ridiculous and is very clearly what I am responding to.

yeah Americans killing whole villages, that totally happened like everyday, doing our research here

but no seriously, a game set in Vietnam (that is done well, the game that is) could be pretty beast
or heck, like you said, there ARE other wars that have lots of source material
I'm not saying it happened everyday but it went on like the My Lai atrocities. There were rogue units, like tiger force, collecting ears, Murdering civilians etc.

I can kind of understand. Losing friends, no clear enemy, miserable conditions, feeling abandoned and forgotten about and if you were drafted you never even chose to be a soldier. I'm not saying I would do it but I can see how someone gets to that point. Horrible things have always happened in war, there are just more cameras there now.

Back on topic there are so many other wars. Kosovo, Vietnam, Korea, the Falklands to name a few.

I do not see why it is most likely to do that. I think that they wil keep milking modern warfare until people stop buying it.

Not all WW1 was trench warfare ya know. Just sayin...

But I doubt the weapons of that period would suit the pace of a Call of Duty game, so yeah, that probably wont happen.

I dont think Call of Duty in the future would work well at all. MW2, for all it's craziness, has its groundings in reality, and that forms part of it's appeal, the same applies to the other titles in the series.

You're fighting in places that exist, with guns that exist, in a fairly plausible situation. Not so in space. Call of Duty is a series with close ties to actual events and people, and fighting in the future in space with lasers and shit undermines that totally.

Hopefully people will tire of this macho, commie-killing gun-nut bullcrap and games can go back to nice colourful sci-fi again. A non-gritty take on the future by Infinity Ward would be cool. Probably won't happen with all the Stupids clamouring for 'realistic' warfare, unfortunately.

I'm in a foul mood tonight. Hope I don't get suspended or anything.

mm it's war, both sides of any war have committed atrocities

ummm I haven't played a crapload of WWII games so it's not stale to me yet, but the idea? yeah a little
a game set in Vietnam, or any of the other viable candidates, would be an interesting change of pace if developers could find a way
Vietnam for an example, was really the introduction of helicopters used extensively in open war, but then again CoD games have already had that kind of combat implemented, so if game makers could think of new ways to expand on it...

imagine having to call napalm on your own position after getting overrun...
mm it'd allow some amazing set pieces

But it was a bigass part of it <.<

Nothing that would be all that amazing.

Not saying it would be completely bad, but it wouldn't top Modern Warfare 2's sales.

They need to let this thing go. MW2 seemed unnecessary, it was successful but if you think about it, its not that different from the first one. The CoD series is one that needs to die, their next step will be to add vehicles and end up being another victim like Unreal Tournament.

Well considering Infinity Ward and Treyarch are being held by the balls by Activision to make a new Call of Duty game on alternating years I imagine they will get sick of it soon. My hopes are they make an effort to make a shitty game that bastardizes the franchise to piss in Activisions eye.

A boy can dream...

All the different "True," CoD sequels are from a different time period. As I recall, there should be 2 more CoD games set in future time periods, but that was their Pre Modern Warfare plan. It may have changed since then.
There were 3 different WWIIs were there
I think I may have gone a bit crazy here, I suppose my history books are a little out of date... or from the future!

Anyhow, I thought I had seen an ad campaign that looked like it showed wars through different eras and into the future.
