The newest and best game (in my opinion) to the popular call of duty series has one thing any of its four predecessors did not. This one has Blood and Gore. Now personally i think that this addition not only makes the game a lot more fun to play, but it also helps draw me into the fight, when a grenade explodes at someone foot their leg should fly off, which in CoD:WaW, it does.

Now alongside the blood, came the bayonet, all i can say about this is that it is the single best weapon i have ever encountered in an FPS, second only to the Fat Man in Fallout 3. Whats not to enjoy about running through the Japanese trenches hearing nothing but squish sounds as you drive a knife into their spine.

I am interested in other gamers opinions on this new addition to the Call of Duty series.

Do you share my hopes that this will be carried on to the next CoD Games?

Edit: To hot to keep the helmet on, so i made an edit.
I loved both COD4 and COD:WAW, I don't get why everyone here is so against WAW. I totally agree with you on both points.

And my GOD is the bayonet ever satisfying. Something about the mechanics of it, and the animation that just looks and feels awesome.

In my experience, if a grenade explodes anywhere near someone, there is a good chance there right leg will be blown apart, which actually annoyed me, as they never bothered about doing an animation for any other limb. Also CoD4>CoD5 in every way (except Nazi Zombies, which loose their appeal after a few rounds anyway).

STAND BACK!

I am going to defend the OP!

I preffer WaW to CoD4 and I will never go back on that. With the CoD series, I loved being a small part of a massive battle and whilst CoD4 was a surperb game, I didn't get that feel and it lost part of the fun for me.

The addition of blood and gore makes it more immersive especially on the harder difficulties when you are almost dead and you blow a soldiers legs off with a shotgun, its tense and it feels way more satisfying than any other CoD.

There, I said it. *pulls on crash helmet*

Perhaps I should remind you of the fact, its a nuke launcher...

And yes while I am well aware it does not fall under the category of FPS, you still shoot things from a first person perspective.

And the bayonet? It just replaces the knife.
But its a knife on the end of your gun. Which makes it better.

Oh, boy. You said World at war was the best in the series. I and many other people will disagree with you on that point.
It's not like the gore really added anything. and the bayonette just replaced the knife for mellee attacks. Hardly a revolution.

Also: Welcome to The Escapist.

same here. also whats with tryearch (i think i spelt that wrong) and tanks. they couldnt make one game without a level that invloved you driving a tank.

I personally think WAW gets more flak than it desereves it wasn't that bad. Although having played all of the Call of Duty's except for the third one I still have to say COD4 is the best(the nuke scene was utter brilliance).
in terms of my favorites I'd have to agree with Starrman, although I loved all of them.

If anything, additional gore to a semi-realistic game should make you feel more depressed then excited about killing someone. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I like CoD4 better. The two are almost exactly the same except cosmetics and tanks, yet I have never pinpointed why I played CoD4 for seven months and got bored of WoW in only one.

Well, seeing as how Cod:WaW is a $60 mod of CoD: 4 I'm going to have to disagree with it being the best in the series.

Now on to the actual topic: The inclusion of gore only dazzled me the first few times I saw it, then I stopped really noticing it.

I liked the original Call of Duties better. I think they're put together well, more so than just mass market appeal blatant monotony to try and please everyone. Also, if you think that the best part of a game is the squishy noise someone's flesh makes when you pierce it with a bayonet, then you have serious problems.

I must be a suicidal bastard but......

I agree with this guy.

Wait! Let me explain!

While Call of Duty 4 was awesome, the lack of that huge battle feeling made me prefer Call of Duty 5.

Though, the original will always remain my favorite.

Treyarch pretty much ripped off COD4 and put in WWII mode. They even did it with the covers.
Everything that you loved about WAW was taken from COD4. They only did what shameless people would do. Rip it off, add one or two feature, then say that they are fucking geniuses.

See what I mean?
They even copied some of the ideas of the levels. Remember "All Ghillied Up"? They took that and made it into one of their own levels. People keep telling me to get this game and I just tell them "Its the same exact game!"
People, people like you, are people I end up hating. You like the game, because it has gore. If that is the case then please, go to 4Chan. They have plenty of that. You shouldn't have to soil our threads with rants about how much you like to hear the enemy cry and bleed. You should like the game, because its fun. If just the idea of casing violence is your thing, go watch the SAW series while messing around with your controller. Pretend your having fun.

Because trying to use a bayonet on an enemy after running through a gauntlet of fire and obstacles to reach him is exhausting, your arms are burning with lactic acid from crawling and providing a stable support for firing your weapon.

That's one of few things "realistic" FPS games don't have - fatigue. After 200m of fire and movement (if you're doing it right) your physically fucked all around.
thats an excellent point, I'd be fucked!

man, I suck at real life, the outside world is scary.
Here's the funny thing about reality. It sucks.
Hence, we have video games. Developers have to ride a fine line between fun and realism, and unfortunatly people don't find getting fatigued in a game all too fun.

I don't like gore, I prefer ragdolls. When I kill an enemy and e screams in agony (like they sometimes do in RSV2) I feel like an asshole. Just die quietly and start flying around as a ragdoll. Why don't I feel like an asshole when I mess with a ragdoll? Because it's a ragdoll.

Welcome and enjoy the festivities. The Dunk Tank is on your left...only problem is that you just got in it.

I personally am not sick of WWII shooters as I have not played many. As far as WaW goes, I think that it has the best campaign of all the CoD games with the not yet mentioned co-op being a fantastic addition. And first of all, the multiplayer is not that fucking different from CoD4 unless you sat there for days getting your precious 10th prestige level 55 and worrying about your precious K/D and Win/Loss spread. The basics remained the same with the gun now being WWII era. Also, Treyarch is smarter than Infinity Ward for actually giving the fans co-op. Not necessarily better, just smarter. On the contrary, I am sick of modern era shooters. I'm sick of killing terrorists!

EDIT: Gore doesn't matter to me at all.

I'm sick of COD games in general. I've played all of them since the first release and honestly they are all the same game.

I fail to see why you're pissed that they're similar. Two different studios made the two games...but it's all under Activision, and I'm sure, from a revenue perspective, that they want both games to be incredibly popular. Treyarch didn't say that they created something incredibly new and innovative. If they wanted to do that, they wouldn't have called it Call of Duty, they'd have called it something else. And then you would be right in being pissed, seeing as they were ripping off of Cod4. It's just a sequel, going back to WWII with the hud/feel of Cod4. There's nothing wrong with that, in my eyes. They're giving me a better game than they would have if Cod4 didn't happen. I freaking loved All Ghillied Up, and loved that they did a sniper level in WaW.

Your rant at the end is just silly. Play teen games if you don't like gore. I'm indifferent to gore myself, I just ignore it or turn it off like you can in GoW2. And our threads are being soiled, but not because of people that like gore. And 4chan is for porn, and that's about it.

Also, I preffered Vendetta to All Ghilied Up (Or whatever that sniper level was in CoD4) because I think Sgt Reznov is in my opinion the best NPC ally in the whole series. :p

"While you live, Dimitri, the heart of this army can never be broken!"

It's the first time my arse has been kissed in a CoD game i must say.

ok to start off its not COD5 its COD;WaW ok not that is settled, this is a good game, yes there are somethings that need to be changed we all kno that just like any other game people have there likes and dislikes about it just like COD4 the "noob tube" people all complained and acted like it was some kinda cheat. People said you cant shoot a gun if you use it. well in COD;WaW you actually have to get kills with the gun omg! shooting a gun what?... there are a few things in WaW that really need to be changed. 1st The spawns are shit you can spawn anywhere wether in front of an enemy or behind.2nd tanks WTF! did they really need them no... cause all the little kids that play this game just jump in them and thats all they know how to do is use the tank. well if you think your a badass you wont use the tank. and one thing that torques me about all of this is camping its part of the game if they want to camp let them you dont have to throw a ***** fit over it after the game cause the games over. so feel free to add what you want or try and rip this apart but we all know this is true
