Welcome to the escapist. Here's something you should know.

Some people on here are VERY protective about their opinions, and so you just said that COD5 is the greatest in the series.

You're gonna need a crash helmet mate.
hehe. True, true.

Gore is just a plus, gameplay in COD4>game play in CODWaW. The reasoning is no tanks in multiplayer

And the bayonet? It just replaces the knife.
But its a knife on the end of your gun. Which makes it better.
Like a chainsaw on the end of your gun is better than a regular one and a gun, right? :D

To be fair, my only gripe about CoDWaW is the lack of variety in vehicles

In CoD 3, I loved the fact there was two different types of jeep, different types of tank and a motorcycle. It added to the strategy and also added to the hilarity when you are in a motorcyle with your friend whose got a MG42, blazing away and then you swing around the corner into a tank. xD

Oh and spawn points need to change.

Just because it's attached to the gun doesn't make it better.. just heavier

The spawn points are dire in WaW. On the smaller maps you can let it go but even on the big maps people spawn behind you or you respawn infront of 2 enemies. It makes team deathmatch frustrating. It doesnt help that all of the weapons feel the same. The bolt actions only differ -minutely- in their rate of fire.

Its not a bad game, I just expected it to be better than COD4; its not.

I do like the bayonet though, its great for sticking dogs.

Here's the funny thing about reality. It sucks.
Hence, we have video games. Developers have to ride a fine line between fun and realism, and unfortunatly people don't find getting fatigued in a game all too fun.

I don't like gore, I prefer ragdolls. When I kill an enemy and e screams in agony (like they sometimes do in RSV2) I feel like an asshole. Just die quietly and start flying around as a ragdoll. Why don't I feel like an asshole when I mess with a ragdoll? Because it's a ragdoll.
yeah Gran Turismo and Forza and bang on and on about how realistic they are but until the fact that hitting another car in Forza means you have to get out of your car lie about your insurance details while simultanuously trying to hide your number plate, its not real enough.

WaW, the best in the series? In your opinion (which is fine). But not in mine, and probably many others. CoD4 is my favourite of the series by some way.

The funny thing is, WaW is pretty good, and it ought to be, because Treyarch seem to have used Infinity Wards' CoD4 as a template and sold more games as a result (cheeky!). IW make the definitive CoD games. Treyarch stand in while IW make the next proper CoD sequel. Which is why WaW is NOT actually CoD5. The publishers just want to continue to make more money off the series while the next IW CoD is in development.

Agree completely about the tanks. Its the first thing that annoyed me about the multiplayer. They ruin the maps. Too many and respawn too quicky.

I never understood why in games with a bayonet it takes ages to stab someone up, in a real world situation you wouldn't need a run up with 5 second animation!, you'd just stab someone up on a whim.
It depends on the weapon and whatnot really. It takes very little effort to just move your arms forward, yes (and, in theory that's all that you need) but bayonet technique (did you know that it has it's own martial art?!) the same as any other melee combat has a whole host of variations and skills that could, concievably at any rate, require at least some degree of hand shift on a weapon to pull off. The proper way to hold an M-16 with bayonet for example involves moving the firing hand from the grip to the stock - not that it takes 5 seconds to do, but I'm sure that when pressed it would seem like an eternity.

Welcome and enjoy the festivities. The Dunk Tank is on your left...only problem is that you just got in it.

I personally am not sick of WWII shooters as I have not played many. As far as WaW goes, I think that it has the best campaign of all the CoD games with the not yet mentioned co-op being a fantastic addition. And first of all, the multiplayer is not that fucking different from CoD4 unless you sat there for days getting your precious 10th prestige level 55 and worrying about your precious K/D and Win/Loss spread. The basics remained the same with the gun now being WWII era. Also, Treyarch is smarter than Infinity Ward for actually giving the fans co-op. Not necessarily better, just smarter. On the contrary, I am sick of modern era shooters. I'm sick of killing terrorists!

EDIT: Gore doesn't matter to me at all.

Are you joking onyx come on man it did'nt have half as good the story of Modern Warfare it did'nt have the characters to get attached to or when they died you got sad when the sergent died in WaW i laughed in Modern Warfare i almost cried when Gaz and Price got killed

I've played both CoD4 and CoD:WaW and while CoD:WaW is a good game, it really doesn't compare to CoD4. CoD4 has a better storyline and better weaponry and as the engines are the same it really comes down to these differences.

What made CoD4 great though, in my opinion was playing as the SAS. Their covert missions where a good offset to the larger battle that the American troops were in, an offset that CoD:WaW does not have and suffers greatly for it. Also getting to use that Hercules fire-support aircraft (I think thats what it was) is a great little level in the game that is much better than the equivalent rail shooter level in CoD:WaW. Not to mention that the tank level in CoD:WaW is terrible.

CoD:WaW is a good game, in some places it is a great game, but it cannot stand up to CoD4. (Unless you are measuring games by how many zombies there are in them)

Well, we seem to have differing opinions here, as I didn't remember any of the characters except for Price. And mostly because he magically teleported in from CoD2 and (I think) CoD3. On the other hand, I felt very bad for Sgt. Sullivan at the end of the second mission and that Russian dude whose name I can't ever hope to spell who got flamethrower'd by the enemy right before you entered the Riechestag.
