1:1 K/D ratio? I had at least a 7:1 K/D ratio when I play it. Also, Wasteland is excellent, get coldblooded and ninja, get a good cammo with a sniper rifle with the thermal Scope and you could win the game for your team quite easilly.
It still stands, all too often with an unscoped bolt action rifle, if you don't get a headshot at close range the guy with last stand and a pistol will kill you in the time it takes to ready for your next shot.

Finally Wasteland is a terrible map because everyone takes a scoped weapon, you cant play it any other way. Other maps allow for different styles of play. Wasteland allows for hiding in a bunker or hiding in a bush. If you love to camp its great, that doesn't make for a great map. I can't remember the last time I saw Wasteland end because the score limit was hit because its a big dirty campfest. If you're new and dont have coldblooded yet you are at a massive disadvantage.

The story mode is gritty and authentic and the multiplayer is probably the best balanced of the lot.
whoaaa, stop there a second. I agree about the story 100%, twas a really intense and pretty dark way of portraying WW2. The Multiplayer though, was not well balanced. not getting into stuff about MW2, which apparently alot of people find unbalanced, I still reckon WaW was fucked up most of the time.

No1 seemed to use half the perks on the game (gas mask? shades? what a joke) and I also realised the MP40 is balanced to feel like what God himself would use (if he condoned gun crime and all that :p ) so u'd get hella lot of people using that, and stopping power, for crazy accurate and instant pain.

and I guess the spawn system was dodgy, blah blah, and the maps were mostly bollocks, but thats just my opinion :p

you can't knock em for Nazi Zombies though- I dont care if it ruined the serious nature of the campaign, it was SHIT HOT.

EDIT- just noticed someone say this very valid point; JACK BAUER was in the game. what a beast :p

I enjoyed it in the short time that I was able to play it, but after that, I moved on to MW2. I just like it, I guess.

I thought WaW multiplayer was terrible so I stuck with Cod 4 till MW2 came out. The Nazi Zombie was fun, but no one ever stayed long enough or wouldn't play with you since you didn't level your rank.

My problem with WaW was that the campaign felt like nothing more than a glorified shooting gallery, with targets popping up. It never managed to really capture feeling like you were in real combat. At least you switched to veteran and were spammed by 12,000 grenades per minute.

It was because it was only Call of Duty in name, and engine. It was made by different people. It's like Guinness outside of Ireland. Just not the same.
But its still Guinness, and if you choose to enjoy it no matter the flaws, you'll be drunk off yer' ass either way.
While this is true. You can also drink Tesco value Vodka, and be drunk off yer arse.

Hardly dropped off the radar, fantastic game I got on steam on sale for 25 bucks a while ago. Really neat game. There's more grenades than people in that game but it's still neat.

WELL,

Gun balance was bad. Like, REALLY bad. SMG's were insanely overpowered, and the perks really didn't help, namely stopping power/juggernaut/sonic boom (or whatever it's called).

Dogs and tanks are probably the biggest 2 factors. Dogs, since they can gang up on you and kill you in a second, and tanks because, well.... They're tanks.

Glitches! Glitches were very common when the game was released. I could barely ever play a game without someone hiding in the geometry.

All that, and the fact that it is a WWII game. Thusly, rather overdone.

I must honestly say, I am EXTREMELY surprised to see such a large number of WaW fans. In my little section of the world, its looked at mostly as a joke, whose only redeeming feature was the nazi zombies, which was short lived, and the additional maps only served to ruin.

But, yeah, I had no idea there were so many people who actually liked that game. I know I only played to tide me over to MW2, and WaW couldn't even do that. I never finished the story campaign, and the online was quite honestly, horrible in my opinion. The vehicles where unbalanced, the graphics sup par, and the maps uninteresting.

So, OT, it fell of the map because it tried to go against the flow of where FPS' seem to be headed, and that is, modernized. There aren't many new WW2 shooters because they are just going the way of the Dodo.

Actually, the last Call of Duty game before World at War was Modern Warfare. The main reason why it wasen't considered a big successor was because it wasen't as great as Modern Warfare in most eyes. Althought I thought the game was great, it just wasen't as great as Modern Warfare.

I loved the campaign in WAW.

I actually kinda preferred it COD4's campaign, it felt more dramatic and engrossing.

I didn't enjoy the multi much though, it was ruined for me by guns that felt shabby compared to high tech MW ones, and that insanely annoying Japanese guy screaming 'Our Recon Plane will find them!'

The Russian Campaign was its saving grace, but, then again, I'm so biased it's not even funny. It portrayed the horrors of the Eastern Front and the outrage/vengeance of the Russians without going overboard. Well, okay except for that guy.

That being said: UUUURRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
