I change tactics/class. The more you kill me, the more I know how you're working the match. Doesn't always work, but having a stress release class on MW2 certainly helps ("sod this, I'm gonna run round with a shield for the last five mins")

I really only get frustrated if we're trying to play a game and someone's griefing us (usually in a split-screen game with three of my friends and one of them feels like being a dick.)

I also get pissed if I know I should be able to do something (solve a puzzle etc.) but I can't. For instance, in Darksiders, I hit a crystal to move a big stone that emits a beam, then I hit two crystals beside the door, so the beam can go through the door. I've figured it out, it's just that the beam doesn't stay positioned in front of the door long enough, or the boomerang-shruiken thing I use gets caught on something and doesn't open the door in time, and this happens for about twenty minutes after I figured the damn thing out.

while usually i'm fine and calm, occasionally i do get angry. such as when i'm on a death streak of like 10. that's just annoying. if i do get angry, i just quit the game and do something else for a while

I get frustrated, but I don't say anything. I keep playing until I win at least one match and then stop to end with a win.
I've never thrown a controller or hit anything. I just stay calm.

I get pissed and swear a lot if I get killed by someone who isn't as a good as me. If I play something like CoD I usually get annoyed when I die, but if I'm playing something like CSS then i just roll with it because I know I'm not very good.

I admit that I dont always play by the rule, eg: on Left 4 Dead I like to go off exploring as the hunter, but theres always one high pitched squeaky little kid that starts yelling at me and calling me a noob for... well having fun!
It's because you're playing a team-based game and running off, thus depriving your team of 25% of their effectiveness.

If you make literally no effort to help the team, you will get called a noob.

Heh heh heh. Games are how I found out I had anger issues. If I start getting really pissed on the comp I tend to slam the mouse and hit the keyboard, usually while saying "What the F@#K!?!?!?". On a console I tend to throw the controller, haven't done that in a while though. I know one time I was playing Odd World: Stranger's Wrath and at one point is was in a part were I kept trying to climb a rope to get away from the enemy, but every time he shot me I would fall down again. Thing is this was the only place I know of that was safe enough to heal, and I needed to heal. I eventually ended up throwing the controller across the room. It hit a milk crate and the analog stick was digitally stuck(the stick itself would move but it was stuck in one direction ingame.) The worst time though was when I beat my controller with a wooden board I had in my room. Not my proudest moment. >_<

I will admit, I do tend to do a lot of growling when I have witnessed some unbelievable bullshittery.
Then I usually insult the player character and tell him/her/it to listen to me in future, dammit.

(They never do)

I rarely get mad at the game itself... I'm more likely to get irked at imbeciles in multiplayer games. If they're upfront about being inexperienced and they listen to advice, I'm fine with that. It's the people who are convinced that they know what they're doing (when all evidence points to the contrary) and try to shift the blame to others that really get to me.

I do get mad but I just tell myself that it is just a game. At times when people play MW2 and they start getting mad at the other players for being beat I tell them it is just a game and nothing to get upset about. They tend to get mad at me.

On WoW when someone gets mad at another player because they are making fun of their skills I also tell them that it is just a game and that they should not get mad at the other people especially when they can ignore them.

Counter Strike Source. I can get real angry.

I once raged at FIFA 09, threw my controller at the floor (the only time I've done so) and it bounced right back up in to my hands. I figure it was god's way of telling me to keep my head in the game and calm down.

When my cousin was around 13, he was really into Diablo. And one time a guy lured him into a deep, high level dungeon, and killed him. Right after that his mom told him it was time for bed, and he spent a half hour yelling about how he had to get his stuff before the guy looted him. It was -hilarious-.

When I sometimes have game nights at my house, I have one mate who whenever we play 2v2 Cod will always screen-look. It gets very annoying when you line up a perfect shot with a sniper rifle and just to see him go prone or run around a corner when he couldn't have seen me.
Swearing and insults are thrown

I admit that I am sometimes guilty of getting annoyed at games (or other users of the game) especially when you get some punk calling you a noob (mostly likely in a ten year old voice) when the whole damn game he's camping using god damn rockets, that stupid, little mother-fffu..*cough*...
See what I mean? I have to calm down it is just a game.

I know other players can also get frustrated particularly when I hear "Son of a..."

So now it?s time to own up! What do you do when a game or other users of the game is getting the better of you?

Do you remember a time when you thought you might have taken it a bit overboard? Or can you remember a really sore loser online?

Please, do tell.

My little brother is a bit of a sore loser, damn moron broke my LB button when he slammed the controller to the ground -.-
I feel you mate, it's like you're describing me. Though much less angry :p I go to the Escapist, hoping to find this kind of thread to tell people how much I hate you all.

Music and a good singleplayer is an awesome way to unwind from the assholes in multiplayers that camp, using overpowered akimbos, noobtubers, heartbeat, spawnkilling etc etc.

Nowadays I just go nuts and taunt everyone. Can't help myself anymore. I've had enough of those assholes who play dirty, no fairplay, just fuck up the game I paid money for. I hate people...
Yes people suck...

I only get mad when playing against a computer. Online games do normally have a large amount of idiots but they seem to amuse me more than they anger me.

If the computer beats me then i get very mad...i think thats why i used to get through so many console through rage beatings

But thats what i mean, does it REALLY matter if you win or lose? Surely the most important reason for playing video games is to have fun? I accept that you might not share my opinion but I am entitled to my own and i think that winning is a bonus, not a necessity.

Arguments between me and my friend over whether Halo 3 deserved a 10/10. I mean, as a game, it didn't, but I'd say 7.5 or 8/10, and I admit as much as I may slag it off, I've still had fun with it (played Ghostbusters-mode with some friends online the other day, hilarious). But he (bearing in mind he's not a hardcore gamer and knows nowhere near as much as I do) constantly claims that it did deserve it, and says that all the games I like are half-arsed. I'll give you a list of some of these games:-

Bioshock
Borderlands
Garry's Mod
Half-Life
Half-Life 2 + episodes
Left 4 Dead
Portal
Psychonauts
Ratchet & Clank series
Saints Row 2
Team Fortress 2

None of these are half-arsed, Halo 3 didn't really add much to the table though did it?

The anger comes in with him threatening violence over it. More than once. He ahs anger issues, yet does nothing about it.

I never ever rage in a game. Way to mellow for that to happen to me. The only time i'm angry is when i'm joking around with friends... So I'm not angry... What?

But I have this friend and boy does he rage.
*Both staring at each other in L4D*
Me: *Shoots him with a pistol once* Let's go.
Him: WHY DID YOU SHOOT ME!? *Proceeds to kill me, then ragequit.*
