When games get the better of me? I generally smash my controllers, or shake my desk.

I would like to play COD online, I really would. But I don't want to go jail for killing some 12 year old who thinks they're special forces. So I don't. LAN-ing is still OK, because I only LAN with my over-30 peers.

I'm calm while playing single as then I find challange fun. While competing at online games though I can get quite mad. When I was playing arenas with my friend we were arguing so fucking hard that our friend recorded us for the lulz. Still we are pretty good at gaming and that causes frustration when we just cannot overcome some obstacle.

If I'm playing the game on my own normally I keep pretty calm and don't start shouting abuse, if there's me and a couple of friends playing I get annoyed so easily and start shouting abuse.

So I er...resort to rockets and noob tubes which makes me feel better, then I carry on playing normally.

I do know someone though how got so angry he snapped the part of the cable from the headset that plugs into your controller, which in turn made him more angry.

from my perspective, if the game is frustrating to a certain level, it's not a good game. so I'm usually a very happy gamer

Need for speed shift really pissed me off during some of the later races. flying off track in a 900 horsepower-plus Lamborghini then not being able to come back and win the race will do that to you.

A good trick to counter rage in MW2 is to sneakily knife a few people every 5 deaths or so. Feels cheap, but really satisfying. Specially if you knife the guy who keeps blasting you with akimbo shotguns every f**king respawn.

Nothing is more humiliating then being knifed in the back when you didn't even know it was coming.

I get annoyed a dick moves in multiplayer. It usually results in me just swearing and saying "thats bullshit" until the end of the game, where i pick up my pride and start again. Oh but i dont ever say this over the mic, just to myself. I hate people that complain over gamespeak.
Online gaming comes with its ups and downs i guess.

mwhhhhhh...
I slammed my keyboard to the screen and hit my 70 euro mouse to my desk because of getting noobtubed about 10 times in a row. Fortunately both work fine.
And once i quit a game (i think it was fallout) without saving.I froze for 2 minutes and then cried.

Was it one of the good fallouts? Or fallout 3?

Because Fallout 3 wasn't worth crying over.

i seemed to mature in gaming raging over the past 8 years. at first i was obsessive. if anyone has played any racing sim, they'll know what im talking about.

need for speed high stakes was hell halfway through the game. i have a perfect racing line, going through corners, and kissing the apex just right wherever i go. then some f*king copper comes around, puts a spike strip with 1km to go, and i fail... damn i was never impressed, but i dont recall ever tossing my controller around (like to point out that at this point, the worst words i knew was "damn", and this was shocking to my parents;)

now, i have been able to keep my composure, maybe uttering a curse under my breath, but usually resorting to something else to do, like getting raped by my 7th prestige cousin (12 yrs old as opposed to me 18 yrs...) kicking my ass up and down the street, and having another bunch of newbies with me. scoreline 1100 to 6800, with a nuke finishing the round... bad day.

now id just go for a singleplayer game on an easy difficulty, to boost my ego in preperation for the next time i get my ass handed to me.

"voice_enable 0" disables the possibility of rage, caused by dumb mic users.

Also, if I get frustrated about something, it's because something in the game isn't working like it should be. Can't think if anything in particular. No, wait: once when playing NHL 2001 many years ago, I lost the Stanley Cup because the AI opponent made 2 goals during the last 5 minutes of the decisive 7th game. I smashed my keyboard to the table and as a result, half of the buttons were sent flying across all over the room.

I generally just toss it, or log off.

I'll admit I've had WoW drive me up the fucking wall a good hundred billion times. When I did play I was stuck on a PvP server as that's where all my RL friends had setup camp and I didn't really want to leave once I'd established myself there. That said I still have never been much of a PvP player and tend to avoid it, getting gank-camped by a UD rogue for 8342759834753 hours (as they don't have lives to do anything else, or seek anyone of an actual challenge to fight back, ever) or tag team sky-camped by a team of 16 Belfs because most of our strongholds had no real defenses of any kind...yeah, I'd get a bit hot under the collar.

Honestly it's more the people that decide every daily questing zone has to be a PVP WAAAARRRRRFORTHEHOOOOOOOORRRDDDEEEZONE were the worst, the king of all dick moves being relentlessly griefing everyone in sight that tries to do that terrible, terrible spectral worg one for the Sons of Hodir. I know Alliance do this shit too, I'm not arguing that, but yeah it's a major piss off when the other team, that's 90 billion people strong and growing (as our people jump ship, or just transform instantly) is always everywhere all the time and always in the 'shoot first, camp later, always travel in PvP teams' mood. And you never are.

I know you can move, but I didn't really want to pay for it, nor did I want to leave all my roots of friends and the like behind. Nor was PvP -> PvE ever an option for free at any time...

Guh, I feel dirty now. I'm going to avoid mentioning WoW for a while, or at least until my kidneys feel better.
dont get me started on UD rouges, i feel your pain dude
Night elf rogues. Human paladins. Gnomes of every class. I hate them. A lot. For the exact same reasons you guys hate UD rogues.

I just got so sick of it that I joined the Horde and never looked back, since every time I think about retrying Alliance I end up getting endless crap from them. So Horde I'll stay.

I see you say 'once', had a friend I assume the flying controller is the reason this person is no longer a friend ;-) Seriously though, what makes someone think that is an acceptable thing to do to a friend?

I admit that I dont always play by the rule, eg: on Left 4 Dead I like to go off exploring as the hunter, but theres always one high pitched squeaky little kid that starts yelling at me and calling me a noob for... well having fun!
It's because you're playing a team-based game and running off, thus depriving your team of 25% of their effectiveness.

If you make literally no effort to help the team, you will get called a noob.
But thats what i mean, does it REALLY matter if you win or lose? Surely the most important reason for playing video games is to have fun? I accept that you might not share my opinion but I am entitled to my own and i think that winning is a bonus, not a necessity.
But it's a team-based game. By running off and doing your own thing, you are causing it to be less fun for others. Same with griefing and glitching...it might make the game more fun for you, but it makes it way less fun for others.

In short, have all the fun you like, but not at the expense of others.

I used to get mad at games a lot, but now I have coping mechanisms. I have a friend who gets extremely frustrated with games, especially when he feels that he's let others down, and sometimes it gets a bit scary playing with him.

Getting killed by an AWP makes me slam my mouse on the desk. Don't worry... I have spares.
