You wanna know how? It's because everyone who knows Calvin and Hobbes....they never forget him.Mezmer said:*Tears well up* God damn it, how did you know Calvin and Hobbes was a cherished childhood memory of mine?
Yeah! Let's go to our secret G.R.O.S.S. headquarters!The_root_of_all_evil said:Anyone who doesn't like Calvin and Hobbes is obviously a slimy girl. And girls are icky. Especially when they give you cooties.

That's a very touching way of enterprating the strip. I must say it does tug on my ol' heart strings, especially since Calvin and Hobbes=Best thing to happen ever (It also was my main inspiration for when I was like "I wanna make Cartoons!").SimuLord said:In that first picture, I almost think of a backstory where Calvin is seven or eight and he can't bring Hobbes everywhere with him anymore...but he says to his tiger, "Don't worry, old buddy. Someday I'll make it up to you."
Then as Hobbes follows Calvin's daughter, Calvin waves like "Told you so, friend."

Karma. After torturing Susie Derkins for his childhood, of course the gods are going to give him a little girl who will get tortured in her turn by some future version of Calvin (perfect irony if it's Susie's son.)Mr.Mattress said:One thing I am curious though, why does every one of these drawing make Calvin have a Daughter?
Well...I might be able to make something of that. You see Calvin spent all his life thinking girls are icky as the little boys of his generation did, and with all the people who've read all the Calvin and Hobbes books and probably the artist that made the first picture that I did have wanted to show how that can be changed into something great.Mr.Mattress said:That's a very touching way of enterprating the strip. I used to see the world like that. When life was still unknown, and even the simplest things could fascinate me.Zap Rowsdower said:Actually, this was the final Calvin and Hobbes strip:

Staying young at heart keeps us from turning into humorless, vile people as adults...and I suspect, though I don't have kids of my own yet, that it makes us better parents.Internet Kraken said:I recently reread my old Calvin and Hobbes books. It is a very humorous strip, but something stood out to me that I never would have noticed when I read it in my youth. Somehow, that comic perfectly captured what it is like to be a child. I was unlike Calvin in almost every way, yet when I read strip I remember doing many things that he did. I remember seeing the world the way he did, mainly in this strip;

I hope I don't forget what it was like to be that young.
